Telescope Peak, Death Valley National Park, November 2021 Hiked up to the highest point in Death Valley looking down at the lowest point in Death Valley (and North America) where I was just the day before. This was the longest and highest altitude hike I’ve ever done. 14 miles round trip (7 miles out and back) with an elevation gain of about 3000 feet. Prior to this hike, my longest hike was 11 miles and highest altitude was about 9000, both of which were the hike up to Lake Solitude in Grand Teton. We definitely earned our beers after that hike! It was such a beautiful hike but also quite scary and unnerving since one wrong move could send you tumbling down several thousand feet into the valley. Since I made it to the top without any issues, coming down I was a bit overconfident and I ended up spraining my ankle yet again! Luckily I have mid top hiking boots which mitigated the sprain, but still had to hike the remaining 5 miles with a re-sprained ankle. Also Frankie and @selip94 introduced me to arnica which is made from a plant that promotes healing and has been amazing with helping my ankle heal!
