He knew Princess Ruby was unique - actually intelligent for one, unlike most dull potential brides he’d met as a suitor. She also had intriguing interests, if he wasn’t mistaken, including inventing. She, and her hobbies, intrigued him deeply and he would have burned the kingdom to the ground if it’d made her happy. “My only condition is that she consent freely,” he told her step-mother, folding muscular arms over his chest.

”I hate to tell you, Ruby, but you’d be wrong then,” Sebastian stated, appearing and sounding more sheepish than intentional or that his words suggested. “I got you a giant, plush, blue periwinkle since it means new friendship, something I’d like to develop with you…” he trailed off, fearing he was sounding ‘nerdy’ in a bad way. “I’ve thought you are, well, cool, since we had intro to computer science together a few semesters ago, but I had to cross-reference my sources for what flower to give you…then making it,” he chuckled softly, extending the flower to Ruby again with a boyish smile.

“I don’t either. I have a spare room, and I’d hope you’d trust I wouldn’t touch you without explicit consent…so an invite to sleepover is certainly extended,” Sebastian said after a moment’s thought, feeling emotions he didn’t remember being able to feel. Romance.

“Why Ruby, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were trying to charm me into loving you even more by stroking my ego,” Sebastian chuckled, walking into Ruby’s room and sitting next to her, taking her hand chastely and rubbing the top of it with his long, slender thumb. “You do know you’re gorgeous, right?” he asked, sincerely concerned she didn’t know how much of a bombshell she was in his eyes. He loved her for her mind and personality, but her looks didn’t hurt her case. It seemed to be something she didn’t hear enough, or often enough.
