horribly mutated salmonid that are usually put out of their misery (is very painful to Look Like That for the blobby fish) and the salmonid tribe will be very sad for weeks after

mutation is (possibly) caused by inkfish pollution entering and staying in salmonid spawning grounds. mutation is certainly more common where spawning grounds are closer to civilization

are usually hatched dead due to the mutation fucking up the salmonid’s body system

speculated that if one was cared for like an inkfish, they’d love to be at least twenty. any attempts at bringing this idea up with a tribe of salmonids will make them very mad and you’ll probably lose a diplomat

multiple reports of mutated “salmonlings” letting themselves rot on the shoreline because they physically and mentally can no longer deal with pain. are usually either cleaned up by local gov./people will try and get in contact with salmonids (mostly non-inkfish)
