I've made a couple of changes on my Goodman Axis throughout the last couple of months, and eventually it starts to take its final form.
(Warning, long post)
In the first round I've made the body mounts longer by 5 mm to enhance the clearance of the dark slide. I flipped the whole focusing assembly in order to remove the flexing when the Mamiya magazine is in use. Plus I've used a proper ground glass as focusing screen. Dora Goodman gave me a tripod mounting piece to try out, so far it works great, it makes the whole thing a lot more stable.
1 â My main goal was to extend its capability while making it a bit more compact. I ended up adding a fairly large focusing thread to it so this way it can be "closed". In this new "closed" position it could take a 90mm f8 Schneider Super Angulon. (Sadly the more compact 90mm f6.8 has a really short focal flange distance... which is a bummer in terms of compactness)
2 â The end of the rails are closed with a pair of long M6 screws, which can be extended to give it a bit of boost on close focusing, or they can be removed completely to extend the bellows further more with two long threaded pipes, for macro shots.
3 â I've also added a red dot on the right rail to visually indicate where infinity is with the current 135mm lens. It also makes a nice little clicking sound when it reaches the infinity mark via a groove and a spring loaded setscrew.
4 â The lens board screws have been changed as well, for easier lens swaps in the future.
5 â It has two spirit levels for obvious reasons and a lot of indication marks.
Sadly the aluminium rails are a bit used now, I'm planning to change them in the future for some anodized parts.
A big thanks again for the great base design for the Goodman team and thanks a lot for the prints OttĂł PolefkĂł
