I figured this out yesterday.

The Context:

Currently, because of the pandemic, many of us do remote work. That usually means we have to do a lot of online calls. 

Most conferencing apps, like Zooms and Google Meet, only allow one mic  (audio input) source.

The Problem:

If you want to make your calls interesting and add background music or use soundboards to make sound effect, by default, you can’t. 

The Solution:

Audio Routing App

I learned that there are tools that will allow you to route multiple audio sources, and turn them into one virtual audio source.

I am currently playing around with Loopback. It has been great so far.

In the screenshot above, I am merging audio sources from my USB mic, Google Chrome and PS Remote Play.

After you’ve routed the audio sources you want and give it a name, it will appear in your apps like a mic source.

For example, I named my virtual mic “USB Mic & Chrome” and that’s how it will appear in zoom. See screenshot below.
