The documents spell out multiple apparent causes. Some ownersā 12-volt batteries are dying, which causes the vehicle to shut down suddenly. This problem could appear as the carās vehicle control units drain the 12-volt battery too quickly ā similar to what some other new EVs like the Mustang Mach-E encountered in their early going.
Internal documents viewed by TechCrunch show a series of problems with the Fisker Ocean SUV including sudden power loss and brake problems.
This is so funny to me, because the New Car drawing too much power from it's 12 volt battery is apparently a thing.
It happened to the DeLorean. The stock alternator on early DeLoreans cannot support driving the car at high speed, have the a/c on full blast, fans on high, with the headlights and high beams on, while playing the radio. Famously Johnny Carson's DeLorean died because he was doing all of those things on a drive.
And here we are, a different car company, 40 years later, drawing too much power from the battery and they're dying on the roads. Same as it ever was.
