Nothing quite like holding out.

Argenta hissed as she hit the ground, exactly on the arm with the crude bandage wrapped about it, her sword arm. The pain was tolerable, but it felt like she was being grated, like cheese. And it wasn’t like Ursi to play with their food.

The sarcastic internal comment did little to lift her spirits. Every other thought was about how long it would take for backup to come here--she’d sent a signal quite a long time ago now. Or maybe it’d been just a minute ago. But they had to be coming soon. She had to hold out till then.

They smelled her desperation, of course they did--in front of Grimm, she found she could never lie--and the only thing they wanted was to snap it in their jaws. They slobbered as they charged at her and her arm throbbed in response.

Argenta was hunched over slightly, as if that would hide the fact that she was muttering into her scroll, the “Please Be Quiet in the Library” sign staring pointedly at her from across the shelf.

“Look, I feel bad for you, honestly, but if you could just call me later--” The huntress sighed in annoyance. “There you go now, accusing me of--I can’t talk right now, I need to--if you could let me finish my sentence--”
