St.Lucia is a beautiful Island located west of Barbados and between Martinique and St.Vincent in the windward islands. St.Lucia is known for its amazing beaches, 20 plus brands of Liquor, many of which have won dozens of awards. The National Heritage site The Pitons and the only drive in volcano in the Caribbean and one of the deepest natural harbors also make this island truly unique. It also has the prestige of being one of the highest ranked romantic destinations in the world. St. Lucia gained its independence in 1979 from the United Kingdom but was once also a colony of France and changed hands 13 times from 1674 to 1814 which the United Kingdom eventually won. St.Lucia is also known as the Helen of the west and is home to the St.Lucia Jazz Festival in May and its own Carnival Celebration in July each year.
