So I was called into work this morning, yes, a Wednesday shift!  Anyway, at work I usually, okay I literally always, go for the last lunch break - I don't know "why" exactly but I find it hard to take one of the earlier breaks. Partially I think it is so that I don't have my break and then have even longer before the end of my shift, but part of it is an ED thing - always trying to eat as late as possible. Pushing things back as far as I can get away with.

However, today I was working in the cafe with one lady (who only works shorter hours so doesn't get a break) and she had to leave early because she had to take her husband to a hospital appointment. This meant that I had to have my lunch before she left so that someone was in the cafe - otherwise there would have been no one. So yes, I was left to run the cafe in the afternoon which is fine and actually felt quite good, but I had to take the earlier break. Something I was very hesitant and reluctant to agree to , but I knew that I had to.

So today I had my lunch break much earlier than I am comfortable with - I sat down in the staff area along with two of the restaurant staff who were also on their breaks and ate my lunch. Yes, you hear that anorexia, I ATE ALL OF IT. It was an hour or more earlier than I am used to, but I managed. I had to. I even chatted with the guy who was in there (who is actually my age and has only recently come back from uni for the summer work). It was okay.

I will admit that I was terrified about having to deal with the feelings later on in the day (I am terrified of hunger) but no such problem occurred. The horrible feelings that I thought I would have didn't come. The guilt was with me, yes, but it subsided and it even got to a point in the afternoon where I forgot about it. I adapted. I had to. But it was okay. Life can't be structured and controlled to the minute. It just isn't like that. It is not normal.
