Techno Mae's Blog 103
The video titled "Tech101 Week 3 Lecture Team Formation" highlights the importance of team formation in the learning process, especially in a technical course such as Tech101. The topic of the lecture is not public yet, but the title alone implies how to implement team work skills on the workplace, especially with a technology-oriented one.
There are several reasons why effective team formation is critical. First, it encourages collaboration and communication. Through collaboration, students can build upon each other's strengths and weaknesses, exchanging knowledge and insights to reach a shared objective. Working in teams improves problem-solving skills and builds the best communication skills, both of which will be necessary for a career in tech later on down the line.
Built teams foster a sense of community and belonging. As people collaborate on a common goal, they feel a sense of responsibility to the team. Because we share this purpose, our relationships are strengthened, trust is reinforced, and a supportive learning environment is created where students feel safe to ask questions, voice ideas, and challenge one another's thinking.
This lecture could cover different approaches to successfully building a team such as how to choose your team members, define roles and responsibilities, and set up communication lines. Today we will learn abouto teams strategies, so that students have a complete and productive team that grows to learn as much as possible.
Team formation not only carries the practical aspect of achieving things more efficiently, but also allows the students to hone their soft skills. Teamwork forces people to practice negotiation, compromise, and conflict management. Working together equips students with best practices for the workplace and for future endeavors, which are heavily team-focused; individuals will work more successfully if they have experience within a collaborative effort.
The importance of team formation. This video focuses on team formation in the context of a technology course. Through collaboration, community, and soft skill building, effective team formation enhances their learning experience and prepares them for a successful career in the tech industry.
Building a Winning Team: Lessons from Start-Up
Building a startup is more than just having a great idea—it’s about forming the right team. The K-drama Start-Up showcases the struggles and triumphs of launching a business, highlighting key lessons in team formation. Here’s what it teaches us:
A. Finding the Right Co-Founders
A startup isn’t a solo journey. Having co-founders who share the vision and complement your skills is crucial. In Start-Up, Nam Do-san, Seo Dal-mi, and their team succeed because they balance each other’s strengths and weaknesses. A good co-founder isn’t just a business partner—they’re a teammate in the long haul.
B. Don’t Hire Too Quickly
Many startups make the mistake of expanding too soon. A tight, dedicated team is better than hiring people who don’t align with the company’s mission. In the drama, the characters learn this the hard way when conflicts arise. Be selective—every new hire should bring value and fit into the culture.
C. Get the Best People
Surrounding yourself with talented, driven individuals is a game-changer. In Start-Up, Samsan Tech thrives because its members are skilled and committed. The best people don’t just bring expertise; they bring energy, creativity, and resilience.
D. Keep Your Best People Around
Hiring great talent is one thing—keeping them is another. Team chemistry is essential. People stay when they feel valued, heard, and challenged. Building a positive work environment ensures long-term success.
Execution: The CEO’s Five Jobs
A startup’s success depends on execution. A CEO must:
1. Set the vision – Provide clear direction.
2. Raise money – Secure funding.
3. Evangelize – Promote the brand and mission.
4. Hire and manage – Build and lead the team.
5. Ensure execution – Turn plans into reality.
Things to Consider
Stay focused – Avoid distractions and stick to the goal.
Work with intensity – Success requires dedication.
Build a great product – A strong product is the foundation.
Develop personal connections – Business is about people.
Embrace competition – A little rivalry fuels growth.
Be persistent – Setbacks are part of the journey.
At its core, Start-Up reminds us that success isn’t just about a groundbreaking idea—it’s about having the right people, the right mindset, and the determination to push forward.
Assignment 3: Team Formation
For Assignment 3, myself and three of my peers (Guy, Michael, and Jacob) had formed a team. In our first team meeting we chose a game idea that we wanted to work on, which ended up being Kitty Krusade. We also discussed the roles that we believed we would be best suited towards. As a result of this discussion, I was dubbed the artist of the group as well as one of the notetakers for the play testing sessions.
Considering I am not the best artist and that I am quite slow when I do draw, I decided that I would draw what I could for our game, and would seek out appropriate assets for sprites that I am not able to complete in time. With the main focus of this unit being the design and mechanics of the game itself — which all team members will be working on — I believe the play testing and reiteration of the game will be much more crucial (not to say that art and assets aren’t important, they just aren’t the core focus of the unit).
TEAM FORMATION
We are forming a team this week. We came up with a unique name for our team, and that is ITech.
Which means Intelligent Technology is the upgraded name of Innovation Technology.
The projects and ideas, on the other hand, are based on the rapid evolution of technology.Â
Our team consists of three people. Dignadice, our hacker is Jmaes Hans Baron, and his abilities and personalities are observant, virtuoso, and ISYP-T.Â
Then there's Barao, Romualdo III, our hulk, whose skills and personalities are dependable, adaptable, a defender, and ISFJ-T.Â
While I am your very own Rabadon and Christian Mae is a hipster, my abilities and personality are good in computer systems servicing (CSS), I am sociable, a logician, and I am INTP-A.
The team chose one of the top three ideas, "Bibibliophile," with the goal of assisting students who are unable to easily access the books in the library.Â
Solar Power Bank the goal is to reduce the inconvenience of using the electric power bank.
The goal of developing the Sari App is to alleviate the inconvenience of using handwritten records that will take time to locate.Â

Week 3
The topic that was discussed in the lecture is about team formation. And during the week, we tried with our groupmates the game called "spaceteam". We enjoyed it a lot and was able to achieve the objective of the acitvity. After that, we continued the revision and replacement of some wacky ideas we have come up to.
Okay teammates let’s now get in formation
If Beyonce could get the ladies in formation, students should also get their teammates in formation.Â
To form a team is not easy. For me, forming a team should be somehow what we call distributed. The roles should be distributed according to the roles that they are willing to take. So in order to do that, one must know oneself other than the other.
This is why getting-to-know-yous are important. Personality quizzes are also so helpful to realize oneself. These help in the formation of the team, and of course communication. What is a team when there is no communication?
Being assigned to a team with unfamiliar people is awkward but sparking a conversation can lead to knowing them. Their favorite movies and music could tell a lot about their personalities, their stories and experiences could raise a good sign about their leadership and work ethics. Those conversations would make us want to be with them in a team, and they could also be our buddies.Â
A team is like a machine, a part should be working so that another part can work. So everyone should be working, together. Despite the differences, everyone should be working. That’s my favorite part of being on a team, to be immersed in a diverse environment where people have different talents and skills.
On our team for this semester’s Technopreneurship, we are all introverts. Three INFJs and one ISTJ. Trust me we did not cheat on the quiz haha. I like my team because they believe in theirselves. They chose who they want to be, to be the hipsters, the hustler and the hacker. Well, I’m a hacker. I have been passionate in learning and coding and you know what the YouTube programming channels say, learn and code. I volunteered to be the hacker of the team because I believe it’s the avenue for aspiring developers like me to learn more and teach others what I know.Â
Our hipster is walay kurat. Their art direction is very nice and we are glad of their confidence, as well as our hustlers. Our two hustlers are both inquisitive and have a-vocabulary-level-that-i-wish-i-had talent. Sana all.
Well, there is still more to explore on my teammates and I am willing to witness their talents within this semester especially on our Technopreneurship course. What would will it be next time? Maybe they are also hackers after all, I mean I do know that they can be a hacker but time will time if they will actually volunteer to become the hacker of the team. Either way, we will help each other no matter our roles. <3Â
4th Meeting - Team Formation
Everything I learned today has resonated within me so much as well. In this 3rd week of validation, we did some online forms for survey again to gauge out how many from the population experiences the problem we have pinpointed. The problem is... contacts. It was mentioned in the lecture that it is a very important aspect when doing a start-up and I can say it really really is even from the initial brainstorming phase.
To hit the target audience that you plan to cover, you need connections - connections to interview these people and then add more ideas to your product. Personally, we are very lacking in that aspect. We need to be more outgoing for this to work yet another problem I’ve been concerned about is the distribution of personality among our team. Basing from the 16personalities test alone, 3 out of 4 of us are introverts. Although not hugely, it does affect our work. And even if it’s just a minimal one, it can pile up and be a huge hindrance in the future... we do our best to reach out to everyone as much as we can though!
The good thing about our team is that everyone is collaborating, everyone is active, and everyone is motivated towards the same goal. I, personally, am also comfortable working with them. It really helps too that one of our members is really well-versed on the idea that we decided to pursue. Every time we talk, there are new ideas born. We suggest, we question, and we suggest again.
But I think, despite that, we still need more ‘help’. Help in the sense of knowledge - knowledge on the aspects that we are not an expert of. Some I can think of are government involvement, hardware set-ups, and business consultants. This made me realize, again, that we are just the developer side of this start-up. We need connections, and we need more help. We need more people that will compliment us. But for now, we’ll do what we can, and I know my team is doing our best :)
As for the work we’ve done this week, so far it’s going good. The responses for our survey are exactly what we are searching for. What’s more there’re even new information we can utilize! It’s a common problem among us Filipinos so we’re having more of a wider respondents now than before. I think we hit the mark this time!
