.Tea-toxing with Adagio Teas | Body & Soul Gift Box.
I’m officially on the run up to holiday and pulling out all the stops to get my bikini body from last year back in check including gruelling sessions at the gym, clean eating (during the week!), reduced alcohol consumption and as much sweat in my kickboxing classes as possible. I’d heard the word ‘tea-tox’ being branded around with so many people taking part in tea cleanses and dropping extra lbs within weeks. Not one to jump into fad diets I took my time and researched my way through the internet until I found myself back on the Adagio Teas website – a brand I recently discovered and absolutely loved. Armed with my IngenuiTEA teapot* (still possibly the best tea invention I’ve ever witnessed) I gave their Body & Soul Loose Tea Package* a go to see if it aided my pre-holiday weight loss and helped detox my body ready for the beach!
So what’s in the box? Well first of all it would make a lovely present for a tea loving friend, the box opens up to reveal three lovely metal tins filled with loose tea varieties all created for different purposes. I tried all three but apart from when I came down with a terrible case of manful at the end of April and devoured the Sore Throat Therapy box I mainly just stuck with the Happy Belly and Teatox Blends.
I researched a lot of teatoxes before I started mine with some worrying findings in regards to this part of the detox I have to say. Senna leaf is a laxative, and a number of these more famous teatoxes ‘prescribe’ a cup of senna leaf tea every other day to help aid with your weight loss, and some of these senna blends are so strong in their FAQ’s the company’s warn that your oral contraceptive will no longer work during your teatox experience and they suggest drinking it the night before a day when you have nothing to do or anywhere pressing to be!!! Now I’m no rocket scientist but I think I know where your weight loss is coming from with these kind of teatoxes and I don’t quite fancy myself being stuck in a hairy toilet situation in the office or out shopping! Prolonged use of laxatives (natural or not) isn’t good for your body and I’m quite shocked that some teatox companies aren’t making more of a point of this, so please be careful on your teatox and look out for this sort of strong blend being drunk on very regular basis.
Adagio’s Happy Belly is a Senna Leaf blend that is designed to be drunk once or twice a week or simply when you feel you need it. Eating a clean and healthy diet you shouldn’t need to rely on this particular part of the detox but I have tested it out and I’m happy to report it’s incredibly gentle and won’t leave you dashing for the office loo in an emergency! It tastes like liquorice which I have to say isn’t my favourite (I’m not a sweet tea fan) but it has grown on me and I certainly don’t dread drinking a cup when I need to – it’s a good one to have in the house whether you’re teatoxing or not I think.
The teatox blend is lovely and designed to be drunk once or twice a day at any time as it contains no caffeine. Within hours of enjoying a cup (which tastes a lot like a smooth dandelion tea – also one of my godsend tea products) I found myself feeling a lot less bloated and more relaxed. The ingredients work together to help rid your body of toxins, excess water weight and any bloating that might occur throughout the day and I’d say it does exactly that. After two weeks of my teatox i felt so much better, everything seemed to be working properly and I was buzzing with energy - I was even getting a better night’s sleep which is a real bonus for me. As far as aiding weight loss it’s going to be really tricky to tell as I’ve been eating very clean and ramping up my exercise regime probably by half so I don’t think my teatox is solely to blame for the weight loss I’ve experienced but then again I don’t think any teatox would be.
For me it’s the way my teatox has made me feel on the inside that counts and the results of that are great - I’ll certainly be buying myself another tin of the teatox blend and carrying on throughout the summer. With the ingenuitTEA tepot it’s a breeze to make even in the office and it’s keeping me and my insides very very happy – highly recommended indeed!
You can find the Adagio Teas Body & Soul Pack on their website HERE for £19 or individual tins for £7!
