I've completely immersed myself in this fandom: I always imagine a hint of sadness and bitterness in these drawings, and here's a little sketch of what was truly beautiful between them... until Caine realized he was free and could do whatever he wanted.

2.P.S.: This alternate universe is dedicated to Caine's trials. What would have happened if the circus had started working a little later? Perhaps by then Caine would have gone a little crazy, rewritten his own code, and started creating everything he wanted from scratch. There are hints of horror.

i got super into a game called the consuming shadow early this year and wanted to write a dbh au about it but never committed to it. i’m still super into the idea though because the plot of this game kinda rocks so im gonna inflict it on people here. below the cut are my headcanons and shit for something im probably going to write bits and pieces for at some point if i dont make it a full-on fic
aight first off the basic premise which i totally didnt steal from the wiki for the consuming shadow (which is a pretty dope game, if youve got time to kill i’d recommend watching a lets play or buying it if you like roguelike horror games)
“The goal is for the player to banish an ancient god that threatens to destroy the world by using ancient magical runes to create a banishment incantation spell. However, the player does not know which runes are the ones needed for the incantation, nor do they know which god to banish, and they have a limited amount of time to complete their task before the god invades.”
four unlockable characters (plus a fifth idea someone else came up with that i liked too much) mean five different characters could feasibly fit into this story
connor, the scholar: a professor who works for the ministry of occultism. he notices the anomalies before anyone else and gets to work on putting a stop to the Ancient in just 60 hours
kamski, the ministry man: connor’s main source of advice; since the ministry didn’t give connor clearance to deal with the issue, kamski stays at the ministry to provide connor with money and tell him which towns are corrupted by the shadow.
luther, the warrior: a mafioso who, while running from the law, ends up in a world beyond his comprehension. he’s not sure about the Ancients and the runes; he just knows he has to put a stop to it.
alice and kara, the wizards: civilians taken hostage by minions of the Ancient. while they were held captive, they learn to tap into the Ancient’s power to cast spells. alice’s young and impressionable mind lets her use magic without ill effects on her mind, but she relies on her mother to remember the runes.
markus, the acolyte: either a reformed cultist or a family member of a cultist, who realized too late that a being like the shadow can’t be reasoned with. he knows more about the Ancients than anyone else; but which one does he need to banish, and how?
the way i imagine it, connor and markus stumble across each other and join each other’s cause, while luther, kara and alice are saved by each other. all the while, kamski tries to make sure the ministry stays intact as long as possible...but in the end, he might need to borrow his secretary’s car and banish the god himself. maybe that’s not how it turns out. maybe they’re all trying their best in different corners of the multiverse. either way, they’re all facing the same evil.
