Treating today's OC-tober prompt of "symbolism" as an oc ask thing.
Colors: -For my main 4 Blanksford OC I definitely use colors to represent them. Gabby's orange, Aeri's yellow, Madi's pink, and Taylor's red. There's not too much symbolism about these colors in particular other than visual design though. The concept of using colors for OCs gets a bit less helpful the more you have though. I tend to use a purply-pink or a blueish-grey for side characters.
Songs: -I know some people are like crazy for OC playlists but that's just not how I usually listen to songs. I have occasionally heard a song and thought it'd be good for one of my OCs but it's super not common. The one that reminds me most of an OC for whatever reason is "Gravity Hero" by Rabbit Junk, making me think of Aeri.
Original Inspiration: -Most of my oldest OC are named after like high school college crushes of mine, but I didn't take any like character inspiration apart from name. Aeri is very Chloe Price (LiS) -coded and as a result Gabby often takes some inspiration from either Max or Rachel depending on the scene. Artemis is very much Batman inspired and I'm constantly having to remind myself her story is better when it's uniquely hers and not just Batman fanfic.
Core Traits: -When writing these characters I have a bunch of character traits that I keep in mind. For Aeri, she's always more scared than she lets on. Artemis wants to feel like she's in control, even if it means she's fooling herself. Taylor is overly trusting almost to a fault. Madi cares more for her friends than for herself. And Gabby doubts themself a lot when alone, but is easily empowered by their friends.
Today's OC-tober prompt of "Personality" seemed kinda open-ended so I just drew the Madi piece I've been neglecting for a bit and added a funny Taylor to it.
Oh oh oh!! I absolutely adore using my in-universe language's symbols to make unique emoticons.
OC-tober Day 9: "Relationships" Another reupload day today...
Gabby and Aeri are actually romantically together, but Madi and Taylor just have the queer platonic thing going on. They're all amazing characters and I love writing cute moments for them as couples.
I think I'm gonna stop apologizing for actually doing the prompt but just not with art...
OC-tober Day 6: Past - (This is late in Y4 on the Blanksford timeline, Taylor is 19 years old here.)
---
So before Taylor got his powers he lived with his parents and younger brother. (His older brother has moved out already.) He never had his own cat but he would constantly feed a specific neighborhood cat that came up to him whenever he returned from work or doing errands or whatever.
During one winter that cat came up to Taylor but this time with a kitten. Taylor fed the mother cat and watched her feed the kitten. A week or so of this cat and their baby coming by and then one day it was just the kitten. Taylor watched the kitten and waited for the mother. Taylor searched the neighborhood for the mother cat but never found her. So Taylor brought the kitten to the store to get some milk that's for kittens. They went home and took the cat inside to get them away from the cold and after a couple more days of not seeing the mother Taylor just fully adopted the kitten. Taylor named them Jaspurr and they became really close in the following months. Especially since Taylor was introduced to Jaspurr almost since birth and because Taylor is able to be at home so often.

First day of OC-tober. Today's prompt is Fav OC, and while I definitely switch them out a lot, recently Taylor's been my fav. He's genderfluid and that makes outfits and gender expression fun to play with.
I'm also having fun exploring his relationship with the Blanksford antagonist Artemis. I don't have that fully figured out but just trying different stuff has been neat.
Okay Tumblr, here's the Blanksford ref sheets I finally did for ArtFight. I'll have all my ArtFight cards and profile stuff ready tomorrow and then the fun can begin in a few days.
I'm so freaking excited for ArtFight!!!
Been cooking this one for a week or so.
This one's actually canon, the scene it's from is still kind of a work in progress and takes place pretty late in the timeline so spoilers ahead, but it's here if you wanna read it: "Post-Part Talk" Scene
A super difficult pose in this one but I think I finally figured it out. Also the first time I've drawn latex, could be better but it gets the point across, but more importantly it has me wanting to try and figure it out more for future arts. I also found a better comic bubble tool for Krita since the default tools were kind of a pain on my previous comics.
