Activity in the castle had died down as the evening came to an end, Tarq had said his goodnight to his brother and sister as they parted their own ways. As the night wore on two people had managed to make their way into the castle, finding their way in the dark careful not to draw attention to themselves.
Tarquarn was in a dead sleep when the door to his room opened. The intruders quietly made their way to where he was, careful not to disturb the sleeping prince.
"You sure this is the one he wants?" The first spoke.
"Of course I am, just stick to the plan and everything will be fine."
"Very well." He readied himself for the struggle that was to come when they pulled Tarq out of bed.
As soon as hands were laid on him to drag him to his feet, Tarq's eyes snapped opened and he fought back with all his might.
"Let go of me! Gua-" A sudden hand was clapped over his mouth to keep him from calling out for help. Tarquarn struggled against the assailant, doing his best to get himself free. In the midst of his struggling a sharp pain made itself known in the back of his head, black spots filled his vision as the world soon went dark.
The following morning Amy and Gav brushed off the lack of their brother's presence to him over sleeping and that he'll join them later. As the day wore on however, their brother wasn't seen.
"Where could he be?" Amy asked, wringing her hands together nervously.
"I don't know." Gaviel was doing his best to hide his own worry if only for his sister's sake.
"What should we do?"
"I don't know Amy, this isn't like him."
"Wasn't he expecting someone today?"
"Fuck." Gav mumbles under his breath. "I believe so."
"Hey, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Adonis walked into the room, immediately noticing everyone's worried looks. "What's going on?"
Amy trades a nervous look with Gav before speaking. "We haven't seen our brother all day."
"We thought he slept late when we didn't see him at breakfast this morning." Gav adds on. "It's not like him to do this."
"Has someone checked on him yet?"
"We sort of assumed he was in his study." Gaviel says.
"I'll go check." Amabiel says, going for his room before anyone could object. "Gaviel!"
"It's not good when she screams like that, come on." Gaviel takes off after his sister screamed for him, wasting no time getting to his brother's room.
Adonis follows quickly behind him, a feeling of dread settling in his stomach.
"Amy what's wrong?" Gaviel asks as soon he walks into the room.
"He's gone, he was taken last night." She looks up at her brother, handing him the parchment she had found.
"It's a ransom, the return of our brother for our kingdom." Gaviel sighs.
Adonis's expression hardened at the word ransom. "Which kingdom?" He growled.
Amy was already trying to hold back tears. "It's to the south of us." She gives Adonis the name of the kingdom. "He's been wanting ours for awhile and threatened to take it any means possible."
Adonis nods knowingly. "I'll bring him back."
"It'll be heavily guarded but we have faith in you." Gaviel attempts a smile.
Adonis chuckles darkly. "The number of guards makes no difference to me."
"........very well then, come on Amy, let's figure out how we're going to tell father what happened so something can be done."
"Okay, see you later Adonis. Bring him back in one piece."
Adonis nodded, waiting until they'd all cleared out to disappear. He'd gotten a lock on Tarq rather quickly, and soon found himself in a dark dimly lit dungeon.
Quiet, staggered breathing came from the other side of the dungeon. A small rustle came after, indicating someone shifting.
"Tarq?" Adonis called quietly.
The most he gets is a muffled response, he had been gagged to keep him from calling for any help during the night.
"Don't worry love I'm coming." Adonis reassured as he moved towards where the sounds were coming from.
Tarq looks up when he hears Adonis move his way. His wrists were changed to the wall, keeping him confined to the floor. At some point he had been beaten up, his right eye was bruised and swollen. Blood ran from his nose to the gag tied around his mouth, his abductors had a grand time making sure he'd be unable to fight back and find a way out.
Adonis had to fight back a hiss of anger when he got a look at what they'd done to his poor prince, unlocking the door with a wave of his hand. Kneeling down in front of him he gently cupped his face, carefully pulling off the bloody gag. "Shhh... it's okay love I've got you now." He did his best to soothe as he undid his shackles from around his wrists.
"They work in shifts, they'll be here soon." Tarq's voice cracked when he spoke, he was tired and just wanted to rest.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of them when they come I'm more worried about you than some stupid guards." Adonis moved to pick him up.
Tarq shies away from him a bit. The sound of footsteps coming down caught his attention, panic crossed his features.
"Shhh, relax, I'll handle it. Just stay here okay?" Adonis placed a gentle kiss on his cheek before stepping outside the cell to meet the new guard.
"Who the hell are you?" The guard pulls his sword. "How did you get in here?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Adonis grinned wickedly, his fangs showing prominently as his eyes flicked a glowing gold. "You and your friends have been very naughty, maybe you should call for them to help you."
The guard whistles loudly for the rest, all drawing their weapons when they see Adonis.
"Go restrain the prince, we don't need him trying to play hero." The first guard orders two others. They do as they're told and go to lock Tarq up once more while the rest go to deal with Adonis.
Adonis grins, reaching behind himself to grab a sharp and curved dagger before disappearing, reappearing suddenly behind one of them and running his blade across their throat.
"Fuck!" One of them shouted, turning around to defend themselves.
Tarq backed himself into a corner as the two ordered to chain him up got closer.
One of the guards swung their sword to try and land a hit on Adonis.
Adonis merely moved out of his reach, throwing his dagger into the man's chest where it pierced his armor and sent him to the floor. "You shouldn't have touched what was mine." Adonis growled, closing in on the last guard left outside. "Because now you're going to pay with your life, and the eternal torment that now awaits you." His eyes flashed dangerously as he slashed three fingers in the air, bloody scratches appearing on the man's back.
The guard yells in pain, backing away from Adonis. "What the hell are you?"
Adonis grinned, showing his fangs. "Guess."
"Demon."
"Good guess." Adonis snapped his fingers and his dagger was back in his hand. He threw it with deadly accuracy, hitting him square in the heart.
"Ah! Get your hands off me!" Tarq struggles against the two remaining that were ordered to chain him back up.
Adonis suddenly appears behind one of them. "He said to stay away." He growled, snapping their neck in one swift motion.
"Shit!" The other lets Tarq drop to the floor as he backs away.
Tarq makes a displeased sound about being discarded on the floor.
"I'd suggest you run, but if you hurt him I can't allow you to live understand?" Adonis glared, flipping his dagger in his hand.
The guard nods before taking off, leaving the two of them alone.
"Are you alright love?" Adonis slipped his arm around Tarq's waist to support him.
Tarq groans at being moved. "I'll live."
"That's good darling. Are you ready to go home now?" Adonis smiled.
"Ever since I got here."
Within a second they were back in the palace and Adonis called for the guards to get Tarq's siblings. "We're home love."
"Thank god." Tarq mumbles under his breath.
"Tarq thank god you're okay." Amy's sudden voice calls his attention. "Are you alright? What happened?"
"Amy let him breathe." Gav scolds her. "We can ask what happened later."
"He needs a healer." Adonis explains, suddenly sweeping Tarq off his feet and picking him up. "They were not kind to him, so I was not kind to them either."
"Oh god." Amy mumbles under her breath.
"We'll send for one right away." Gav nods. "In the meantime he should rest."
"I agree." Adonis began to carry the prince to his quarters.
"I can walk just fine." Tarq protests a little in being carried.
"I know but it's easier this way love." Adonis smiled, Tarq's bedroom door opening for them.
"It's embarrassing."
"How so?" Adonis gently laid him down in bed.
"A prince is not normally seen being carried by his lover."
"Would you like me to make it more normal?" He grinned mischievously, snapping his fingers to change Tarq into clean clothes.
"How do you mean?"
"Carrying you around more often of course."
"No that's quite alright."
Adonis shrugged. "Are you tired love?"
"Very, they wouldn't allow me to sleep."
"Bastards."
"Agreed."
"Get some rest then love, the healer should be here soon." Adonis bent down to kiss his forehead.
"Hopefully." Tarq shifts slightly before closing his eyes.
