On the last day in Japan, my dad pointed out his tarnished silver piece which I gave him 7 years ago. It has been hanged in the kitchen/dining room without cleaning once! Interestingly tarnish shows like the similar rainbow colonies like when you heat metal... I am pretty sure itβs because the thinner area of silver which conducts heat quicker then tarnish more. Silver..too polish or let tarnish (some!!)..I can't ever decide..while in this photo the silver looks in need of work , it is polished for sure..I love polishing silver!.. BUT.. do you notice unpolished silver when being entertained in someone's home???. I would notice it but would be so grateful at being invited I wouldn't pass judgement...you might stop in to visit me and on occasion and see beautifully polished or another time notice ..hmmmm..a little touchin' up might be in order!!!..
