Doodle I did messing around with some border patterns I learned a couple months ago. I don't particularly like it (my line work is pretty sloppy) but hey, that's part of the process! Not everything you draw or make is going to be something you like.

September Wrap Up Post
September was a whirlwind. Soooooo much happened! Some of it was really hard, some of it was really good, and there were lots of swings between the two. It felt like living several months worth of life. I made a comment on Saturday that fall must be almost over and everyone in my family gave me a weird look. I didn’t get it at first. Then I realized it still was the end of September and fall really is just getting into full swing.
Despite all the busyness I actually got a bunch done. I’ve been pretty consistent with art and writing stuff. They aren’t both always happening on the same day, but I keep going back to work on them more days than not. I think that’s a win.
I’ve also been getting caught up on tumblr. I feel like I’m kinda back into the swing of things - although I do have to admit I’m very behind on responding to things. I am making steady progress though in getting to all the things I have waiting for me to read or do that are in my drafts folder so I’m ok with that.
My Favorite Art Post: TangleDoodle - Crescent Moon My Favorite Writing Post: The Great Warrior Gabriel
Goals for October: 1. Inktober! I’m doing it ya’ll. 2. NaNoPrepMo - I’ve got work to do if I want to be ready for NaNo next month! I will also occasionally work on the other writing projects that I have in progress.
TangleDoodle - Tipple
This was my second tangle practice page and by the time I was done I was kiiiinda sick of circles lol That said? This page was kinda exciting. It was hard, and almost every practice tile left me convinced that I was doing terrible. Then I would pull back and look at it, or I’d get up and go do something and come back and look at it, and I’d be surprised. I’m not thrilled with all of them, but they all look better than I thought they did while I was working on them.
There was a lesson there for me. It’s easy to look art in progress and think that it’s crap. It’s also easy to be too close to a piece and think it’s disappointing even when you’ve finished it. But once it is done, once you’ve had a chance to let it sit and come back and look at it, sometimes you will surprise yourself. I needed that reminder. I needed it bad.

TangleDoodle - Tangle Page #1
The book I’m going through [here] teaches three different zentangle patterns per lesson. I’m doing a full page for each one as I learn it, and then I’m doing a random tangledoodle that combines the three patterns together.
I loved how the red and black contrast with each other in this! I think I have a bad habit when I doodle of packing too much into too little space. I’m trying to be aware of that as I continue to play with all of this more. Using simple color schemes is really helping with that. It was also a lot of fun to see the patterns I had been working on all come together like this.

Organizing Things
When I started sharing my TangleDoodle pages I made a list in OneNote so I wouldn’t get confused about which ones I had shared and which ones I had not. I get things twisted around in my head easily - lists keep me grounded and make life easier.
Today I realized that one of my problems with getting back to writing, and to sharing things on here, is that I had my organizing lists in several different places. Including in places I could only look at on my laptop. Yeah, there’s a better way to do this. Especially since I use OneNote on a regular basis to keep track of things I need to access on a regular basis. Like my grocery list.
I’ve spent the evening getting all my lists put into one place.
No wonder I was feeling discombobulated with art and writing projects! Some of those notes are keeping track of who I tag when I tag people, but the rest are ongoing projects. That’s both really cool to see and kinda overwhelming lol
I’m focusing on the cool side. It’s going to be easier to stay on top of things, and putting this together gave me a good overview of where I’m at. Some of the lists only have a few a items, and others have a lot more than I expected. Plus there’s a decent chunk of things that are done or close to done. Which means I’ve got a steady stream of content to share! I’m going to have to figure out how I want to do that but ... that’s a thought for another night. Tonight I’m just going to enjoy that I got this done.

I did this one last week. I like the overall effect and the rainbow of colors, but some of the details didn't turn out quite as good as I wanted. Which is why you practice, practice, and practice some more!
Weekly Update 10/1
Last week was really busy, but I got a lot done! I think it’s fair to say that I am starting to get back into the pattern of doing stuff XD
Art and Writing Stuff:
TangleDoodle Page 1
Inktober Thoughts
Blackout Poetry - To Find Family
I also did posts about life stuff but I figure most people wouldn’t want a review of those anyway XD
Goals for this Week:
General Artsy Stuff - Share one TangleDoodle page
Inktober - Do at least five days out of seven and share updates periodically.
Writing - Share something I’ve written and start working on prep for NaNoWriMo
What are you up to this week?
TangleDoodle - Crescent Moon
This was one of the easiest tangle pages for me so far. I’ve known this pattern for awhile, and messed around with it a bunch of times because, out of the few I had learned previously, this was my favorite.
Spoiler alert: It’s still my favorite.
I made it my goal to find variations I hadn’t tried before, and I had so much fun seeing how it all came together!
