@tailedteeth said: His hands looks different than the others , and he finally realizes that when they're sitting down. Taking a break near a creek in the woods. Nerio doesn't say anything , and while he's still wet from rolling around in the small pond of water , he grabs his companions hand suddenly ( his own are scaley mixed with skin , there's a clear difference in contrast ) , but there's a clear furrow of his brows like he's trying to find something or figure out some kind of puzzle.
" your hands are different than mine. " he says , it's a statement more than a question.
The sudden touch is a good way to wind up in the infirmary very quickly when it comes to 001, but knowing there’s no one it could be other than Nerio soothes the irritation somewhat. He still receives a displeased little glare, but it could’ve been worse. Much worse.
❝ You’re just realising this now? ❞
But now that it’s been brought to his attention, he’s focusing on it too. It still hasn’t fully settled in his mind-- the idea that he’s crossed paths with an honest-to-god mermaid-- but little differences like this make it all the more plausible. Not that he even knows what ‘makes’ a siren in the first place.
Dear god, what a fucking headache--
❝ ... are they uncomfortable? ❞ One lithe finger draws a long, curious stripe along the length of Nerio’s hand, and the scales do not yield in the slightest. It’s as if he’s inspecting a particularly interesting bug, eyes greedily taking in what little knowledge they can latch onto. Nerio’s incredibly lucky that 001 is the curious sort.
