You grabbed the towel off of the couch and slipped on your flip-flops. You fixed your hair into a neat ponytail and looked over at the stairs. "C'mon, boys! Let's go!" you yelled up the stairs. Tadashi and Hiro, your two favorite guys to spend the day with, came rushing down the stairs with smiles. The three of you were beach bound that day, since the summer heart was starting to become annoying in the city.
"Is the truck loaded?" Tadashi asked as he grabbed the keys from you. As his hand brushed against yours, you felt your fingers tingle a bit.
"Yep."
"Aw, you didnβt have to do all of the heavy lifting," Hiro said as he nudged you. You smiled bashfully at him. You had feelings for Hiro, but lately you'd also had feelings for Tadashi. They'd been your best friends since the beginning of time; how could you possibly choose just one to go after?
The three of you walked out into the driveway to climb into the truck. You dumped the last of your things into the bed of the truck and climbed in next to Tadashi. You took the middle seat between the boys, which meant being close to both of them for the twenty-minute drive to the beach. Neither of the boys complained.
As you drove along, your laughter rang through the truck. Tadashi and Hiro laughed along with you, glad to have such an amazing friend, although both of them wanted to see you as more than that.
Once you got to the beach, Tadashi parked the truck and climbed out. Hiro jumped out as well and helped you down. You took his hand and climbed out with a nod of thanks. You helped the two boys carry towels, bags, food, and a beach ball over to the warm sand. You picked a spot and propped up a bright red umbrella. Next to you, Tadashi helped prop up a solid blue umbrella. You tossed a towel lazily down and flopped down with a sigh. Both of the Hamada brothers gazed over your form appreciatively.
"Gee, (Y/N), you sure look comfortable," Tadashi said with a hint of mischievousness in his voice. You nodded lazily. You'd been waiting for this day for weeks now, and to lie on the warm sand and do nothing was pleasing.
"Yeah, you do," Hiro agreed, his tone matching Tadashi's. You yawned and considered taking a nap right there on the sand until you were suddenly lifted off of the ground. You shrieked and grabbed onto the thing that was carrying you, which just so happened to be a shirtless Tadashi. He laughed as you saw where he was carrying you.
"Tadashi Hamada, donβt you dare!" Tadashi stopped running when he was in the ocean water. It just barely came up to his knees. "Tadashi!" you shrieked again. He laughed and started to bend down with you in his arms. The water was getting closer to your backside and you were in no mood to spend the rest of your day wet. You arched your body up and closer to Tadashi's, making both you and him turn pink.
"You're so cute when you freak out," Tadashi said with laughter. You glared daggers at him. You noticed the water sloshing a bit more and saw Hiro come around to stand in front of you and Tadashi with a smirk. He was also lacking his usual red shirt.
"Donβt. You. Dare," you threatened again, but Tadashi already had his heart set on this. As the next wave came rolling in, he dropped you into the freezing ocean water. You screeched as you went under, the current cruising by overhead. You popped back up seconds later to see the two brothers laughing next to each other. You scowled at them both. When you stood up, the water reached your waist. "I despise you two," you said as you wrapped your arms around yourself. The water was freezing.
"Aw, are you cold?" Hiro cooed as he swam over to you. He wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you close. The combination of the sun and Hiro's form against your wet body warmed you almost instantly. His fingers danced lightly on your waist as Tadashi finished laughing. You wanted to pull away from Hiro; after all, he was an accessory to the crime here! But you found yourself to fit so well against his toned bodyβ¦
"Yes, you knucklehead. You both turned me into an icicle."
"Aw, poor (Y/N)!" Tadashi exclaimed in a mock voice. He came over and hugged the other side of you. You felt warmer instantly. "Better?"
"Getting there," you said with a laugh.
The rest of the day was spent playing catch on the beach, enjoying a cookout for dinner, climbing a nearby rock and almost getting yelled at by the lifeguard, and a small mid-afternoon nap. It was now nighttime, and the stars were more beautiful than ever. The chaos of the beach had died down considerably; in fact, you werenβt sure if there were any other people left on the beach except for you three.
You sat in between Hiro and Tadashi on one of the now empty lifeguard towers and watched the slow waves come into the shore. You gave a sigh of pleasure and closed your eyes. Tadashi chuckled. "What're you so happy about?"
"Oh, nothing," you replied. "I just had a great day, thatβs all. And this is so incredibly peaceful."
"It really is," Hiro spoke up. His hair had lost a lot of its oomph. It wasnβt quite as gravity defying as usual.
"I wish summer never ended," Tadashi said.
"Me neither," you replied and took his hand. "And do you wanna know why else this day was so great?" you asked as you looked at Hiro.
"Hmm?" Hiro asked.
"I got to spend it with my two favorite guys in the entire world," you said as you took Hiro's hand as well. Both brothers smiled and leaned their heads onto your shoulders. You smiled at both of them before drifting off into your thoughts.
Gosh, how could I ever choose just one?
