So he doesn’t know how to warn the stranger when their training was right in the middle of risking stepping on a fallen birds nest. He was actually in the middle of trying to find a relocated place to put them. The mother would be back soon. -- 

      Toji would instead , in his true fashion , the only way he knows how , he would stand over the other , stopping him from stepping on the poor creatures.

oh,  the  joy  of  returning  to  someone  waiting  for  him.         the  last  time  he  returned  from  duty  &&  had  dinner  waiting  for  him  his  father  was  still  with  him.      seeing  lee  greet  him  this  warmly  clenches  something  painful  but  sweet  in  his  chest;  arms  pulling  the  boy  close.            ❝    I  CAN  TELL!!      THE  ENTIRE  HOUSE  SMELLS  DELICIOUS!!    ❞        a  strong  hand  reaches  upwards  to  ruffle  lee’s  raven  hair  while  the  other  continues  wrapped  around  his  son’s  back.

                                                             ❝   FUCK  .  ❞  five  hissed  softly  as  his  wrist  was  taken  to  be  inspected  ,  a  sharp  inhale  as  his  muscles  tensed  over  &&  he  tried  moving  his  fingertips  .  to  no  avail  .  his  other  hand  was  cupping  his  elbow  ,  holding  out  his  arm  GINGERLY  ,  beside  his  left  foot  was  a  smoking  ,  bullet  ridden  briefcase  [  again  with  no  bullet-proofing  important  &&  ultimately  precious  cargo  .  ]  having  landed  badly  ,  already  on  an  arm  that  was  FUCKED  beyond  measure  ,  five  agreed  quietly  with  the  fact  that  maybe  there  was  something  wrong  with  it  .  his  expression  remained  tense  &&  he  puffed  out  a  low  breath  .

livvy’s never been cold before; warmth radiates from her like the gentle glow emitted by a shining star and the cold always eludes her. but not now. even with lee stiff and curled and huddled beside her, sharing what meager body heat he can come up with, arm braced around her shoulders the cold seems to have permeated into her very bones, making it harder to think about anything other than the chill.

at least not until the footsteps sound on the other side of the door and her head snaps up at the sound. she can’t protect them, she thinks. she couldn’t summon enough flame to light a match, let alone enough to hurt them.

lee seems to recognize her fear as the deadbolt scrapes open, the older boy softly and fiercely declaring his willingness to defend her if necessary. all she can do is burrow a bit further into his side, hands balling into fists.
