Pepper fiddled with the charm that dangled from her necklace and rested against her chest. This wasn’t the first time she was in danger and honestly, it was something she should be used to by now. But honestly, could anyone get used to someone trying to hurt them or use them to hurt their partner. If she wasn’t busy hiding from her life she would have honestly scoffed at the entire situation. Just earlier she had been worried about the speech she had to make tomorrow and now here she was hiding out in a room of the compound trying to figure out how to stay alive.  

     Dark eyes take in their surroundings, searching for a weapon of any choice that she could lift and swing with all her strength. But first, she needs to make sure her companion was okay. Pepper glances towards the woman and she offered her a small smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I don’t have any at the moment but I’m working on something. They must have somehow cut off the system? Which should be impossible but Tony would have been alerted about all of this.” she knew him. If he even thought she was in danger he would be here.  

     Pepper didn’t understand what was happening. One moment there standing there talking to each other, pondering about where in the hell Tony and the others where and plotting what they should do when people just started turning to dust. Literal dust. They faded right before her eyes and she didn’t know if she would be next. 

              If Evelyn would be next. 

    She didn’t even know that she voiced her fears out loud until Evelyn was cupping her cheek and forcing her to look at her and away from the pile of dust on the floor a few feet away from them.
