Iterative Design Processes for Long-Term Objects
(Taking the term object in the most general sense, i.e. object of study)
It is often told that the design processes have to be iterative to be efficient. The moto "fail soon, fail often" comes frequently in design thinking.
However, how do you apply such a process in long-term design ?
For instance, when designing a forest garden, you may notice after some time that some tree is not appropriate, or that such trees should be less numerous.
How to make your design sufficiently adptative to allow for iterations in this design after implementing ?
Aikido, a do-nothing martial art ?
AĆÆkido seems to compose from the present forces - mainly the one of the attacker.
Then, it just plays on leverages to change equilibrium and thus induce strong changes with very little effort.
It sounds very much like Fukuoka's "do nothing" natural agriculture to me. Fukuoka plays with the present forces of the biotic community, and compose them so that their equilibrium lead to a self-regulated and self-sustainable system. He performs small actions with great influence, maily being at the right place at the right time.
