Any advice for male-identified alters in a female-presenting body? While the body isn't a small person per-se, I'm a really big dude and the body is so... Female. Although there are other male alters in the system, I seem to be the only one with any kind of gender related body dysphoria (spelling?). It drives me crazy, the dresses, the long hair, painted nails, even the host's wedding ring! I'm just a protector so I don't want to stir anything up, but was hoping y'alld have some ideas.
It is difficult to navigate being a different gender than the body. It can be very uncomfortable for many reasons, all of them valid.
The system I reside in has reached a compromise. When possible they wear gender neutral clothes. If they are going out and it's casual it's agreed on they will wear jeans and a shirt that are neutral.
If the occasion calls for a specific way of dressing those who like that way of dressing are asked to be the ones who are out. If for any reason it's necessary for someone other than those to be out, it better be for a very good reason.
If you're going to be out for any amount of time, and you feel comfortable, ask if you can buy a binder, or anything else to assist with you feeling comfortable. It is difficult. Find things that are negotiable that you feel would help you and go from there.
