GMC Syclone '91-92
On September 14, 1990, the Syclone LSR from GMC Truck rewrote the record books by becoming the first truck ever to break the 200 mph barrier in the flying mile. This specially modified Syclone clocked an amazing one-way speed of 210.069 mph in the IMSA speed trial becoming both the World’s Fastest Pickup Truck and the first pickup to exceed 200 mph!. This is the one that goes down in history.
The one that goes down your street has a 280-horsepower, intercooled, turbocharged 4.3L V6 engine at heart sold from January 1991 onwards. Its handling is Syclone LSR track inspired with on-road all-wheel drive, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, and speed-rated tires rounding out 16″ aluminum wheels.

The GMC Syclone, a street truck that won the title for fastest production pickup on the planet back in its hay day. Even today, most cars would struggle to keep up with its mid-4 second 0-60 time.

GMC Syclone
Another aspect that arose during the 1990s was the rise of performance pickup trucks. GM started things off with the 454 SS, and then many models followed suit. The GMC Syclone was at the top of this list. The slick styling of the Syclone was a vast departure from the run-of-the-mill GMC Sonoma model on the market. The performance was also a lot better with the Syclone being the fastest vehicle on the road for a few years (via Edmunds).

Nowadays, these trucks are synonymous with quality and design, and you’ll seldom find one for a cheap price. GM didn’t cut any corners when it came to this beautiful truck and that made their enthusiasts satisfied. Nowadays, the Syclone is still one of the most popular used GM trucks on the road.
