BikeFlights.com has always been an avid supporter of the small builder community by acting as each builder’s in-house shipping department. Going to events like the North American Handmade Bicycle Show is a great way for us to catch up with some of our raddest customers. Colin Blanchard, our West Coast Marketing Manager, flew solo for the weekend helping both builders with their shipments and helping to spread the gospel of shipping bliss.

The show started off with a bang on Thursday with the builders and other companies loading in. This gave us the first sneak peek at what jewels would be shown at this year’s show. The day of moving heavy booths and light bikes was topped of with a builder gathering hosted by Paul Components, White Industries and Paragon Machine Works at Bike Dog Brewing.

So that every booth could be dialed in just a little more on Friday before it was time to start, the show opened later, but that didn’t stop the crowds. The first day was jam packed with enthusiasts wanting to be the first to lay eyes on some beautiful creations.

Myth Cycles out of Durango, CO brought some shred ready hardtails.

Smelzter Bikes came down from BikeFlights.com’s hometown of Portland, Oregon to show off some beautiful gravel bikes.

After a day of standing around talking about bikes, it was time to ride. Locals Squid Bikes teamed up with SRAM to host a ride and after party at their HQ in town. We were treated to a scenic tour of town and of some trails along the river.

The second day of the show was more of the same: fancy bikes and big crowds. They also started to give out awards for some of the most beautiful bicycles at the show.

Pratt Bikes came all the way out from Providence, Rhode Island. They could be seen around town riding their show bikes all weekend.

Sycip, out of Santa Rosa, California, didn’t have far to come which allowed them to have a packed booth. They had too many bikes at times so some made guest appearances at the BikeFlights.com booth.

The same recipe was in place for Saturday night, too. Squid Bikes was hosting a Track-lo-Cross race followed by an awards party at a bar. Even though Colin didn’t have a Track-lo-Cross bike, that didn’t stop him from racing the course on his dirt jumper. 

With all of the awards given out ahead of the final day, attendees were sure not to miss any of the amazing award-winning bikes. NAHBS is always a treat for the BikeFlights.com team.
