Ophelia and Sybil are littermates! They could be considered standard hooded, beige rats. They are beige because they have tan markings and ruby (brown-red) eyes! Ophelia has a long strip of tan following her spine, while Sybil has spots. Hopefully you can learn to tell them apart!

Some disclaimers - later disclaimers are not for the squeamish: They were saved from a pet store where they were being sold as feeders. These girls are my 2nd & 3rd rats (I had one male before).

Sybil is spunky and very high energy! Ophelia is laid back and gives plenty of kisses, until Sybil takes a break - then somehow Oph gains all of Syb's energy and she starts bouncing and popcorning everywhere....smh

Squeamish folks, look away:

Ophelia came to me (unbeknownst) pregnant! She contracted an infection which killed off the litter-all but one. This pinky grew into a monstrous 2 inches (pinkies are supposed to be about an inch), slowly killing Ophie. She weighed 332 grams at her first vet appointment, and two days later she weighed 197 grams because of it.

A second infection was contracted, killing off the fetus. Surgery was performed to attempt to move the fetus and spay her - ended in failure. The infection exploded and fused her proximal organs together, resulting in no removal. After being stitched up, Ophie had almost a full recovery, until the fetal reabsorption decided to halt and perform fetal escape through a cyst in her side.

You guys might notice a cut or hole on her right side in some of these pics and vids, that's where the fetus (or what was left of it, 3 ribs and a ton of pus) was expelled from her body.

She almost died twice, but she has a very strong will to live!
