Boomer update: We picked him up from the vet Monday. Blood work was all good except for anemia, which is common for dogs whose diets consist mainly of garbage and roadkill. That will clear up with a few weeks of decent food. Shockingly there was no heartworm or tick fever. His wound was debrided, disinfected and stitched as best they could, but it will be a long healing process. It damage was very deep. Now he wears a fashionable crop top t-shirt to protect the stitches from his scratching. Boomer is easily the kindest, gentlest dog I’ve ever met. All he wants to do is love and be loved. He hasn’t so much as barked since we’ve had him, and trust me, Mama has given him ample reason to (she still likes to remind him she’s in charge from time to time). He gets along great with other dogs, kids and adults. The final test will be cats. Knowing how completely adorable he is, I am even more amazed anyone could mistreat such a gentle soul. But…every day he’s gaining weight and getting stronger. Tomorrow he has a date with a prospective forever family 🤞🏻 #dogs #dogsofinstagram #dogrescue #sxmdog (at Saint Martin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CovOHV1p5uk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
