I think while i enjoy the idea/ concept of ZoLu, SanLu and LawLu equally, in fic I 100% gravitate now towards ZoLu for a simple reason:
ĆSanLu / Lawlu fics have a tendency to focus wayyyy more on the Sanji or Law Angst/issues while Luffy is there to sort of help them deal with it manic pixie dream girl style.
And I do understand why - many love an angsty blorbo and it's nice to have them taken care of
The thing is however that my Son and Favourite is Luffy
Therefore what I like is for a fic to focus on how he's Everything, and in the case of Luffy on the devotion he inspires up to and including almost religious worship th- oh hey Zoro didn't see you and the luffy shrine you erected in your heart
A little gift(?) for my dear friend @swordsmans of their absolutely gut wrenching fic step 2: survive anyway this part made me absolutely CRAZY. Took a little artistic license but like. Goddamn. This is how it felt.

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year
it has to be the very last scene in the sea is lovely, dark and deep. with the confrontation between zoro and luffy. after two years working on it this is the fic that's sat with me the longest, so the culmination of all of... that was so satisfying to me. i know some people found the end confusing, but i hope it makes sense if i say yes, that part was real.
13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year
does the time loop playlist i made count? lmao. i listened to that so much while writing that my spotify wrapped from 2024 said i was really into viking/nordic ambiance. however, i'm also always a sucker for bon iver and saint mesa.
15. something you learned this year
to just go with it, why not. going with my gut is something i defer to in my real life, so why not let it carry over into fic? posting my first one for mass effect was a little stressful but only because i let it be. posting for a new fandom for the first time is always a little daunting and i hadn't written smut in a while, plus this one had an alien. but mostly i've just learned why not? if you're enjoying it and having fun, go for it. this all for fun anyway.
i've had spotify autoplaying that artist you recommended all evening and while the songs are all truly impeccable bangers it just gave me "the first disciple" and i. need to lay down. oh my god.

I've recently started listening to him really, and I found some of his songs (the first discipline, a drop of blood and habibi) are just so Zoro, and Zolu, by extension; but I truly started to intensify the connection after that reading of "step 2" while listening to the song like I told you!
