EG Custom 1/144 MBF-02XS[Blade] "Gundam Strike Rouge Blade Excess"
She's back! In March, I tried out customisation on an Entry Grade kit, making the Strike Rouge Excess. I always wanted to complete it with a backpack set, specifically the Sword Strike pack, and Bandai's Option Set 02 was finally in stock.
As you can see bleow, there's not really much I've changed from the original base kit, apart from adding the Sword Strike parts to the backpack and shoulder. Technically, this shoulder armour is supposed to go on the other shoulder, but I didn't want to cover up the decal I'd already added there.
The Sword Strike parts include the afformentioned shoulder armour, which has a beam dagger hidden in the shoulder spike. There's also a shield with an anchor/claw part, and accompanying lead wire, for grappling other mobile suits.
The main star of the show, however, is the large ship-breaker beam blade. The handle is super long, allowing even an inflexible EG kit to hold it with two hands, although I did find the flat handle a little loose in the EG's hands. There's a nice pink beam effect for the blade, and a smaller one for the pommel to allow for backhanded attacks.
The combination of blue, pink, and bright green looks really nice on this kit. The Option Parts Set also includes the gun option, but it's a little unwieldy to pose, so I'm saving it for a future build on a more flexible kit.
I also really like how adding all of the armour to a single side makes it look like there's a special reinforced right arm, perfect for duelling like some kind of left-handed hoplomachus or murmillo.
I might come back to this and add some stickers for future photos, but for now I think I'm happy with this custom.
