âGood morning.â For the first time in a while, y/n sounded light and cheerful because, for the first time in a while, she had every reason to be.Â
A bitter yet welcoming smell of coffee had greeted y/n the second she set foot in the room, but today she had a moment to enjoy the beverage instead of quickly downing it for caffeine. The few rays of sunshine that had managed to escape past the slightly open wooden blinds and into the kitchen, glimmered on the dining table, the counters, and pretty much everywhere they could reach. With the windows open, y/n could even hear a faint chirping of the birds outside. It wouldâve been perfect if not for Steveâs attempt at murdering her purely with his disappointed stare. She could feel the irritation radiating off of him in long waves from where he was sitting on the living roomâs couch, but she decided to ignore it, giving Steve an innocent smile instead. Staying quiet, Steve continued to sip his coffee after most likely deciding to blank out last nightâs events.Â
âMorning.â Natashaâs words came out in a mumble as she rummaged through every drawer she could get her hands on. Random kitchen utensils and bowls of all different sizes covered the counters as the redhead maneuvered around the kitchen, continuing her search for whatever it was she hoped to find. âCoffeeâs on the kitchen island, creamerâs in the fridge.â
She saluted Natasha. âWhy the long face?â She addressed their captain, bending down to look for a carton of vanilla creamer on the fridgeâs bottom shelf. âYou guys won, didnât you?âÂ
The heavy terrace doors made a creaking sound as they opened, filling the surroundings with crisp morning air. âBarely.â Bucky chuckled, coming into the room. He placed a soft kiss on y/nâs exposed shoulder before setting down two bags of groceries on the kitchen island.Â
Last night, when Natasha suddenly zoomed past the couple out of nowhere, both Bucky and y/n decided it was a great idea to race Steve and the spy to Tonyâs cabin. The Winter Soldier against Black Widow. What could go wrong?Â
âBarely winning is still winning.âÂ
Bucky yearned to reveal that he slowed down at the last second, but bit his tongue, laughing instead. It was a fact Natasha wouldnât accept anyway.Â
âHowâd you sleep?â He asked once y/n sat down on Tony's large and, presumably, crazily expensive dining table. Her feet comfortably rested on one of the chairs.Â
âPerfect.â She answered because she did, in fact, sleep perfectly. Crazy how well a person can rest if they arenât burdened with stressful missions that have the power of saving or ruining the world. Even her phone stayed silent for the entire night, though she forgot to mute it. No random messages or 3am calls as if the world quieted down just enough for y/n to enjoy her, very much needed, vacation in uninterrupted peace.Â
âIâm glad to hear that.â Bucky threw her a smile across the room as he started unbagging the groceries. âWould my baby like waffles or eggs for breakfast?âÂ
The redhead, who had been watching their interaction with a knife in her hand, suddenly made a fake gagging sound. âGet a room.â She said, stabbing the knife into the cutting board.Â
Bucky raised a brow, smirking. âWe havenât done anything.â The grocery bags were almost empty now. âYet.âÂ
The three were so busy staring at each other, that no one noticed Steve coming to stand behind Bucky. Lovingly wrapping his arms around his best friend, Steve placed his chin on the taller manâs shoulder. âWaffles sound amazing, baby.â His voice was a sudden and surprising sound in the now silent room.Â
It only took half a second for Bucky to recover and get into his new role. âAnything you want, darling.â The word darling dripped with faux sweetness and admiration â Buckyâs tone for the first part of the sentence was filled equal parts of amusement and sarcasm. âWould you like whipped cream with that too?â He laced his fingers with Steve's.Â
The two girls could barely hide their amusement and surprise as their eyes stayed widely open throughout their boyfriendsâ interaction.Â
âOh, honey pie, you know me so well.â Steve let go of Bucky, coming to stand near Natasha. The captain had his signature I got you expression on he only wore after his quite peculiar and not that good of pranks.Â
Jumping off the table, y/n let laughed. âThis is one hell of a weird timeline.âÂ
Steve cocked his head to the side as if to ask what the hell do you mean by timeline?, but didnât have a chance to say anything. âAgreed. A few years ago this man was shooting at me.â Natasha spoke up, pointing to Bucky. âNow my boyfriendâs in love with him.â She glanced between the two best friends, shaking her head.Â
Buckyâs face was painted with annoyance as he dropped the role. âWeâre not in love.â His girlfriendâs teasing mmhh from across the room seemed to tell otherwise. âJust close.â
âSure, buddy.â The girl patted him on the shoulder, and Natasha chuckled. âKeep telling yourself that.âÂ
His reaction almost made y/n regret her words, though she was sure he wasnât one bit angry. âCall me buddy one more time.â He smiled, launching at her.Â

S'meaches! Caramelized Peach Smores are a delightful twist on the classic campfire treat. The combination of sweet caramelized peaches, gooey marshmallows, and rich dark chocolate is simply irresistible. It's the perfect dessert for summer gatherings or cozy nights by the fire.
Ingredients: 4 large ripe peaches. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. 8 marshmallows. 8 graham crackers. 4 ounces dark chocolate, broken into pieces.
Instructions: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Cut the peaches in half and remove the pits. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the cut sides of the peaches. Place the peaches, cut side down, on the grill grates and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the peaches are caramelized and grill marks appear. While the peaches are grilling, place a marshmallow on each of the graham crackers. Once the peaches are done, remove them from the grill and let them cool slightly. Place a caramelized peach half on top of each marshmallow-topped graham cracker. Melt the dark chocolate either on the grill or in a microwave until it's smooth and drizzle it over the caramelized peaches. Top each S'meach with another graham cracker to form a sandwich. Serve immediately and enjoy!
