Newfound headcanon
Amai Odayaka learned how to cook because her family at one point struggled to maintain a proper household. The home was so expensive to manage after her mother had lost her job that they had to take Amai to her grandmother’s until they could get back on their feet.
While she was there, her grandmother had explained that she admittedly never told her children that she loved them. She believed that a family sitting down and eating a meal with her special secret ingredient was all a family needed to know how much the cook cared. She then set down a meal in front of Amai. The girl could, in fact, taste the ingredient. She knew in that moment what cooking meant to her, what family meant to her, and what love meant to her.
“Love isn’t received; it’s passed around a table.” Grandma explained to her.
