Hello me and a friend where discussing about the episodes of tmnt 2003 where Ultimate draco sent our turtle boys through time and space.
We came on to the topic of the super turtles and silver. My friend said you read the comics of super hero turtles. We wonder was it ever stated why Silver hated humans or why he turned evil?
I'm glad you asked! The '03 episode actually doesn't align with the comics entirely, it puts its own spin on it. In the episode Sliver's evil is based in hating humans, while in the comics his evil is based on unwavering loyalty to one twisted human, the mad scientist who created him and the turtles: Dr. Shreddarius, their version of Shredder.
I haven't read the whole comics but I have seen some panels and read the synopses of them. A bit of backstory! There was a human politician named Lucks who was made a World Unifying Leader in exchange for his efforts to "protect" the world from supposed alien invasion. Lucks called on Dr. Shreddarius, who created the Terrorkinetics to serve as Lucks' so-called defenders of the earth.
Shreddarius didn't trust Lucks not to use the Terrorkinetics against him so he created his own force, the Supers and Sliver. In support of Shreddarius and his secret plans for power, Sliver became a cruel taskmaster to the turtles, relentlessly pushing them to their limits to ensure they would be strong enough to overpower the Terrorkinetics and any other opposition to Shreddarius.
Eventually two scientists (Jonas Case and Neil O'Malley, stand-ins for Casey and April) would reveal to the turtles that the potential of alien invasion was all fake and that they and the Terrorkinetics had just been molded and manipulated by Lucks, Shreddarius and Sliver to hold power over the world. They confronted Sliver and tried to convince him to turn against Shreddarius and fight for good, for real, but he refused. They defeated him temporarily but of course he didn't stay down for long. He went back to Shreddarius and from then on he, Shreddarius and the Terrorkinetics were the Supers' archenemies.
TLDR: in the comics Sliver is loyal to no one but Shreddarius and his grasps at power by any means necessary.
But again, the episode is its own thing. Sliver fights for his own power with no mention of Shreddarius, April and Casey are themselves and they're in politics, not scientists, so on and so forth. Each universe has some wiggle room!
