āSoo, thereās been somethinā Iāve been meaninā to tell ya for a while now⦠Uhh, Iāve got a kid and Iād like fer ya to meet her.ā He canāt believe that heās actually really nervous about this, he was just introducing the other to his daughter, it wasnāt like he was trying to stop a bomb. Darcy really shouldāve told the other about Nora sooner, but he never could get it out when he was with them. Better late than never.
Arlo stared blankly at the man as she tried to process the small tidbit heād dropped unceremoniously into her lap. He had a daughter. A little him. She swallowed hard, finally pulling herself out of the temporary shock. āUhm, okay,ā she stuttered. Fingers twisted together as she continued to look at him, her brows slowly pushing together. āH-how old is she?ā
Darcy stays quiet for a moment, wringing his hands together, tugging on his right ring finger as he prepared himself to speak up. āSheās five, sheāll be six in March.ā He offers her a brief smile. It certainly wouldāve been better if her told her about Nora earlier, he wouldnāt feel as bad as keeping quiet about her. āWould ya like ta meet āer?ā It was a silly question, she probably didnāt want to meet Nora, not after just hearing about her.
How had he managed to hide an entire five year old from her? Arlo wavered between hurt, confusion, and understanding. Because you didnāt introduce a child to someone unless you were certain they were sticking around for a little while, right? At least that was always the reason in television and movies. Your life is not a movie, Arlo. āUhm, I mean⦠I guess?ā she replied. āNot that⦠I donāt, or wouldnāt. I donāt know. Itās all just kind of⦠a lot. Heavy. Does she know about me?ā She would have to, right? He wouldnāt lie to his daughter about where he was going, would he?
