"   is   it?   "   eddie   asks   ,   but   he   knows   it   is.   he   can   feel   it   beating   in   his   chest.   he   tries   to   take   a   deep   breath   but   can't   -   the   sudden   tightness   in   his   chest   is   restricting   his   airflow.   is   he   having   a   panic   attack?   but   that's   the   thing   about   eddie   diaz:   he   doesn't   PANIC.   he   offers   andie   a   smile   of   reassurance   that   everything   is   fine   but   it's   wobbly   at   best.   because   he's   not   sure   if   everything   is   okay.

               there   is   a   hint   of   a   smile   on   his   face,   as   he   watches   the   elderly   man   walk   beside   his   soon   to   be   bride   on   the   gurney   into   the   hospital.      it   had   been   one   of   the   more   devastating   calls,   a   multi-vehicle   pile   up   on   the   freeway   with   the   several   casualties.      there   were   many   with   severe   injuries,   some   who   sadly   weren’t   able   to   hold   on   before   help   arrived.      this   particular   couple   had   been   on   their   way   to   a   little   chapel   in   the   south   end   of   los   angeles   to   get   married.      both   widowers,   both   seemingly   alone   in   the   world   until   they   found   each   other.      it   was   supposed   to   be   a   happy   day,   one   that   signified   a   new   start   in   the   final   stages   of   life   when   the   accident   happened.

               the   woman   was   hurt,   the   man   was   lucky   to   only   sustain   minor   scrapes   and   bruising.      there   had   been   significant   blood   loss   as   the   womans   leg   had   been   broken,   the   jagged   end   of   the   bone   sticking   out   which   had   punctured   the   other   leg.      it   was   a   miraculous   save,   but   what   else   could   he   expect   from   hen   and   chim?      they   were   pros   at   this,   and   thanks   to   their   critical   thinking   skills   this   couple   has   a   second   chance   at   starting   over.      bobby   couldn’t   deny   it,   he   was   kind   of   a   sucker   for   the   romantics.

 "I  do  not-!"  That  came  out  a  bit  quick. ( Perhaps driven by fear of what he might have said, what he might have heard. because   bobby   would   kill   him   if   he   was   listening   to   this   conversation.   but   he   answered   the   question.   now   if   you'll   excuse   him   ,   he'd   like   to   go   crawl   under   a   rock   and   die   quietly   ,   thank   you.
