There had been a moment–no, the moment–during surgery, when the lights above the operating table had blurred, and Tobias had paused. Just paused.     Scalpel in hand. A trembling hand now. Not from exhaustion. Not quite. Something else. Caitlyn’s face had been disastrously pale, lips tinged a frightening blue and her bloodied chest rising and falling in strained movements.  The lights flickered. The latex glove squelched in his grip. And it wasn’t because of the sight of his daughter– his Caitlyn – with disastrous wounds and body covered in ungodly amounts of blood–her own blood– or even the fact that Caitlyn’s pulse dipped to almost nothing many times—it was because he realized what he had to do.

Remy had thankfully found that burying into work on the bakery had kept her mind busy. She wasn’t sure how exactly she managed to get herself into the current mess....well, beside’s her own inability to correctly make a decision. She had wanted to speak to Thea, but she knew who else was working there. If Thea wasn’t there like she predicted then fine. Upon walking in, she didn’t spot a customer and instead plopped herself in the empty seat beside Declan’s station with her bag on her lap. “ I was wrong.”
