Local folks: if you’re thinking of going to Rose’s Meat Market & Sweet Shop in Downtown Durham, do it soon -- they’ve got a big change a-comin’!
From their FB page:
Dear Loyal Friends and Customers, After 4 years of operating as a combination whole animal butcher shop and sweet shop we are excited to announce that we are transforming Rose’s into a Restaurant and Bakery. It was a tough and bittersweet decision to no longer sell local pasture raised meats but we believe this is the best move for our business. We started Rose’s because of our love of butchery, cooking and baking with local ingredients and supporting small farms. That aspect of our business will never change, only the way in which we sell it. We will still be committed to cooking with local ingredients and working with all parts of the animal. Our menu will change daily and offer a variety of small plates, salads, sandwiches and large format dishes such as ramen. Just like our Friday night dinner the much of the menu will be inspired by the food of Asia. To start we will be open Wed-Sun with similar hours but after a few months we will add early morning breakfast items and coffee then later we will add on dinner. The bakery will remain the same and we will continue to offer desserts, ice cream, ice cream sandwiches and special order cakes. We want to thank all of our customers for your loyalty and support over the years and we hope we can continue to serve you just in a new way! Our anticipated last day of the butcher shop will be July 15th and we hope to re-open within 2-3 weeks of that date with a fresh version of our current space. We will keep you updated in the coming weeks with progress, menus and our re-open date and hours so please stay tuned! With gratitude, Justin and Katie
I hope they do well!
