'mulk' is a basic noun meaning originally 'possession, property', and thus the Arabic words meaning 'king' are related to being the 'owner' of a realm. 'malkut' is from the same root but is a borrowed Aramaic word meaning 'kingdom'.

Sūrat al-Mulk (Arabic: سورة الملك, "Sovereignty, Kingdom") is the 67th chapter (surah) of the Quran, comprising 30 verses. The surah emphasizes that no individual can impose his will on another; he may only guide and set an example (67:26).

“A surah from the Qur’aan containing thirty verses will intercede for a man so that he will be forgiven. It is the soorah Tabaarak Alathi bi yadihi’l-mulk [i.e., Surat al-Mulk].”
