So you know the most part of the truth... What makes you keep loving/liking him in spite of whatever those things are?
Fair question. Iāll start by saying that since I donāt know Kevin, I canāt very well claim to love him.Ā
This is the thing: Iāve been doing this blog in either the chasingspacey incarnation or this one for nearly 6 years. During that time, Iāve supported Kevinās career and his numerous humanitarian efforts with what I hope has been good cheer, fun, and respect. The past two years have obviously shifted the concept of what it means to be a fan or admirer of Kevinās. Having this blog allowed for a real life connection to a source close to Kevin and his situation. Information that I trust to be true has since been shared with me, and while itās certainly not the full story, itās been enough to allow me to keep you somewhat in the know, maddeningly vague as Iāve had to be.Ā
That information has also allowed me to fully support the courage it took for Kevin to own his devils, and to take the steps necessary to recover, heal, and face what is confronting him head on. Because what he is facing is substantial. You have no idea. I donāt expect you or the general public to understand this - yet. The machinery operating against him is formidable.Ā Ā
I am not delusional, in denial, or dismissive of the numerous accusations against him. Neither is he. It is my understanding that he is aligned with his truth. What that truth encompasses, I do not fully know. That would be his private story to tell. But I believe in forgiveness and healing, and that compels me to stay invested in this.Ā
What I donāt support are those who have seized on the #metoo and #timesup movement to use Kevin as a prop to either make themselves relevant within those movements (Heather Unruh), those who have knowingly acted an as agent to spread lies and disinformation (Buzzfeed - Adam Vary Iām looking at you, Heather Unruh again, and countless other media sources), Institutions who may have created multiple false, anonymous accusations to justify erasing Kevinās legacy to appease their overlords and the angry tiki torchers (The Old Vic, Netflix), erasing Kevinās art to gain favor during awards season (Ridley Scott), and last but not least, the virtual signaling celebrities on social media who enjoy a brief popularity boost in the form of added ālikesā and retweets, or extra media attention when they condemn Kevin Spacey. It takes no courage whatsoever to pile on after the fall.Ā At the very least they are the very embodiment of the worldĀ āhypocrite.ā At most they are co-conspirators.Ā
If you claim to haveĀ āknown all alongā that someone was doing something harmful to another human being and yet did nothing to stop it, then shame. on. you. You were either part of it, didnāt care, or didnāt think the offending behavior was a big deal. Whatever the reason, you have no moral authority to wag your finger at Kevin.Ā
The swift and decisive destruction of Kevinās career and legacy without question or due process deserves scrutiny. Because, as I have learned, there was a reason for it. I am trying to share what I know to help shed light on the larger picture. Donāt we all want the truth, even if it might not fit the narrative weāve imagined?
Iāve gone off on a bit of a tangent, I know. The bottom line is that I donāt know if itās in your nature to allow for forgiveness, redemption and new chapters, but I would like to think so. I hope that one day we will all have the information necessary to truly decide.
