let me just say this: it’s very rare to have a healthy lgbtq+ relationship. not even 20-30 years ago, if there was a gay character, studios tried to get it banned or would just kill off that character or some other tiresome and exhausting writing. having not only alec being proudly out but a POC character who isn’t killed or just given shit storyline after shit storyline is incredibly rare. Magnus had his own share of shit writing but show Malec works because the focus isn’t on them being gay/bi. it’s because they love each other and are trying to make the shadow world a better place to live 🗣️

Some people genuinely don't know the proper way to support writers here. Especially if they come from different fandoms that make gifs or write fics where liking posts is okay e.g., the Supernatural fandom.

The purpose of this response isn't to start an argument. Just insight on how some readers I've come across have been attacked for not knowing how to properly support writers especially when they are new and still navigating the space.

I appreciate the hard work writers put into their stories. Sometimes a little clarity from authors that do not have any warning would be appreciated especially for people who are new to the space / fandom and only started reading.

I appreciate your kind response and hope others reading this will be open to what has been said and be kind and not perceive it as a bad thing.

At that point honey, there’s nothing much we can do. I understand what you’re saying— thru and thru. But we aren’t mages. We can’t read minds. We don’t know who is on the other side of the screen.

What do we do when we don’t know something? We research. So if the individual has time to like something, they can click that reblog button, see how others chose to celebrate and give that individual their flowers;— you’d take from that and that’s how you become a better and more involved reader.

Being shy- It’s not much of an excuse not to support your writers. We don’t know you well enough to “embarrass you” or try to put you down for indulging on some shit. Hell, honestly— it’s how you make friends on here! By being open and free with yourself.

Again, we do this for free. It takes a LOT OF OUR TIME. So when gratitude is not shown, and we don’t feel appreciated, we lose drive. We lose confidence in ourselves yet, you’re just like “well lemme like this because that’s all I can do.” When it’s not.

And I mentioned in my previous tags, if we have the slightest idea that you’re a minor too— because that’s a HUGE deal, you will be blocked no questions asked. If you don’t have your age in your bio. You will be blocked, no questions asked. It’s not our job to ask you to put your age in your bio. It’s not our job to tell you to reblog if you interacted by liking our work either.

This is just my advice. There’s not any fandom on tumblr that I know that’s ok with you just liking their work. Reblogging is how our craft reach others. So it doesn’t matter if you’re making gifs, creating fics, edits, moodboards ANYTHING — that people put their time and their hard work into— support them by sharing their work and/or telling them what you like about it. That’s what helps us thrive.

these boys are both hot messes, let’s start out with that billy pretends to have his shit together

Billy would probably know more about what you’re going through than Stu, but it would still be very minimal

you would have to explain just about everything to them - what you’re going through, what to use (binders, packer, concealing underwear, certain types of clothes, anything like that); they might know the very basics like, ‘oh, you’re a male in a female body,’ or ‘oh, you’re a female in a male body,’ but otherwise I seriously doubt that they would know about anything else

definitely, Stu would be cracking jokes and puns about it when you first tell him to lighten the serious mood that arises when y’all talk about it unless you expressed that it triggered you, in which case there would be a lot of make-up sex

honestly, unless you did it right, they would probably think it was a prank, so you would have to go about it just the right way to ensure that they aren’t jackasses about it

once they realize you’re serious, then they’ll be much more sympathetic 

‘babe, i’m so glad you told us,’ support up the fucking wazoo

Stu would absolutely take care of most, if not all, of your expenses that need to be taken care of, period. no arguing, no complaining. he wants to support you and since he isn’t educated on what is going on with you, he wants to find a way he KNOWS he can be there for you, and that is money

don’t get me wrong. he will learn as much as he can and evEntuAlly figure out everything, but with this one brain-celled motherfucker it’s gonna take a while

Billy would be the one supporting you more in public, having his hand wrapped around your waist or shoulder, showing you off to everyone around. if people stared, gave rude looks, scoffed, ect, here comes the death glare

if anyone were to say bad things about you, especially in front of him, expect a fight to break out if the other person doesn’t back down right away. he will deck them right then and there if it means protecting you, physically and mentally. he won’t have anyone saying shit about you without him knowing; he has eyes and ears everywhere

Stu is also protective, but he acts more like a sidekick to Billy’s superhero act and will laugh, hang back and hold you while Billy is kicking somebody’s ass unless he needs help

annd there are more Ghostface murders? oh no! what could be the connection?

if you have dysphoria and/or dysmorphia and you don’t want to go out? cool! scary movie marathon time! popcorn, sweets, chips, anything you want, you got it! don’t want to watch horror movies? that’s fine babe, they’ll sit through a rom-com or anything else with you, just expect lots of complaining they secretly like it, so don’t feel bad

if you are feeling too bad on the weekdays, that’s okay! they’ll skip school so they can hang out with you, support you, and give you lots of love. Billy would probably do it more often since Stu’s parents are low-key kind of strict; he needs to keep good grades or he gets privileges taken away. so while he might not come all the time, he will be calling or texting you and/or Billy throughout the day to make that you are alright and to plan to do something with you later.
