Hey RPC, we need to have a little chat. A real chat. Because some of yâall treat original characters like second-class citizens while reblogging the 500th gifset of some white male sadboi whoâs already got a thousand ship partners. And frankly? Enough is enough.
OCs Are the Lifeblood of This Community.
You know what keeps the RPC from getting stale? New characters. New ideas. New perspectives. That doesn't come from the same five canon characters being thrown into the same tired angst tropes. It comes from creators who pour their hearts into crafting original charactersâcharacters with unique backstories, motivations, and relationships just waiting to be explored.
Female OCs Have It HARDER.
And while weâre on the subject, letâs talk about how female OCs get done DIRTY in this community.
đ¸ Theyâre ignored in favor of male OCs or canon muses.
đ¸ Theyâre only interacted with if they fit into a romantic or submissive role (because heaven forbid a female character have depth beyond being someoneâs love interest).
đ¸ They get labeled as âMary Suesâ the second they show confidence, competence, or ambitionâmeanwhile, male OCs can be walking demigods with tragic backstories, and everyone calls them âcomplex.â
This double standard? Itâs embarrassing. Fix it.
If You Want More Interaction, PAY IT FORWARD.
You want engagement? You want meaningful threads? You want people to care about your writing? Then start giving that same energy to others.
đš Stop ignoring OCs just because theyâre not a canon character you recognize.
đš Stop passing over female OCs unless they exist to serve your ship agenda.
đš Stop lurking and actually LIKE, REBLOG, and COMMENT on OC content. Engagement isnât a one-way street.
đ Hype female OCs. Hype OCs in general. Be the change. đ
Because at the end of the day? The RPC is only as strong as the stories we choose to support. Letâs do better.
