thursday, happily accompanied by the revived tradition of STEAK & cobbler. though, it’s not as widely celebrated for her as it’s put on such a persistent stand. it’s more charlie’s thing.
he had been talking about some new guy at the station, a bare mention given at the crack of dawn as he parted for work. nonetheless, she’s unexpected to see another young man sitting with her dad when she walks into the small, homey restaurant. in fact, it kind RESTARTS her heart. a work friend? it was so rare. and the worst part of it was that he was handsome. bella swan is, plainly enough, a very nervous teenage girl. she can barely talk to her dad most of the time. but there’s no avoiding it, so. she sits at the table, offering a small smile to her dad and then -- new guy.
charlie speaks up. ❝ stefan, this is my daughter, bella. bella -- this is stefan, he’s the new recruit down at the station. it’s his first day, mostly just learning things here and there, ❞ his husky voice continues, ❝ figured i’d bring him to dinner, get him to meet some of the townsfolk here. and you, of course..., ❞ with introductions out of the way, charlie eagerly goes back to enjoying his beer in silence. she looks to stefan then, briefly, chocolate hues filled with hesitance (to talk, to know, to trust), though she still leaves a smile on her lips, thinly put.
❝ hey, ❞ she says.
