The Strongest Girl in the World
In which I’ll talk a bit about Tenley Tych’s powers as a Changeling.
The most obvious is Mega-Strength, being able to lift many times her own weight and just snap bones or grind them to dust with her hands. Increased strength of course also means increased speed, so she can run and leap much further than a normal human - it’s like suddenly being in a world with much lower gravity. Of course, none of this would work without lots of other changes to her body as well, a much tougher skeleton, more sensitive nervous system, and changes to the brain so she can control all this. Without a more sensitive sense of touch she would just crush anything she held in her hands, but without the changes to the brain to process all this she would be uncomfortable and in pain constantly - it’s one of the reasons Jana Sarkis dismisses the idea of anyone with super-powers as they would necessitate so many other things in order to work. But Titania is a genius and really did think of everything.
It should be noted though that she doesn’t weigh a lot more so she can still be knocked down and thrown around quite easily (of course most the time she will just bounce back up), and she can’t move a huge, heavy object without good leverage.
She also has enhanced senses. She not only can see further, but can see a little into the infrared and ultra-violet spectrums as well. This comes at the price that her vision is less sharp when she does that, but she can turn it off. Hearing and smell are enhanced too. It’s mentioned that some Changelings are driven mad by the sensory overload, although that’s usually because hasn’t been completely successful.
One power Tenley hasn’t figured out yet is that her cells can store energy and unleash it in the form of electricity, for example (some can project other things like force-fields).
So, you may ask, why doesn’t Titania go around turning everyone into Changelings? Well first, it’s because Titania wants to be able to control them. Second because, as mentioned above, it’s not always successful. There seems to be a higher chance of it working the younger the subject, but quite often they not only go mad but all sorts of other mutations occur resulting in a mindless, uncontrollable beast.
