𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎     -     𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫 ?   𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐨𝐢𝐥, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 ?

Otakemaru’s temper is actually quite sedate,  his personality is more like a mountain  ( stubborn and inflexible,  but self - controlled ),  an anti - thesis to his elder sister with a personality like the sea  ( fickle and unpredictable,  but much more open - minded ).   Otakemaru’s has a pretty level - headed outlook on most things and tends to give people the benefit of the doubt before jumping to unfavorable conclusions about them.   Its most definitely a slow boil   ──   he may snap or get irritable after a frustrating day,  but for the most part his temper is very low - key.

𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐍     -     𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐜'𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 ?   𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭 ?

Otakemaru’s greatest wish is for the prosperity of Mount Suzuka.   He wants his home to become legendary,  and powerful enough to heal all suffering in the world.   Although his wish itself is beautiful,  the lengths he is willing to go for it is not.   On principle,  he doesn’t enjoy senseless massacres or fighting,  but he canonically resorted to riding a warpath against the rest of the world in order to save Mount Suzuka from disease.   To him,  nothing is more important than his home,  so he’d faster let the rest of the world burn before he allowed any harm to Mount Suzuka.

𝐏𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐇     -     𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 ?

Yes and no.   As an ayakashi,  violence is a part of his daily life  ( in onmyoji,  ayakashi tend to communicate with their fists ).   But compared to say,  Ibaraki Doji or the Mount Oe spirits,  Otakemaru’s is comparably peaceful   ──   violence is a method,  not a past time for him.   He’d prefer to settle things without bloodshed if possible,  and he’s taken up a very human way of living,  much to other ayakashi’s chagrin.   So he won’t hesitate to fight anyone who wishes serious harm upon his home or family,  but compared to other ayakashi in onmyoji he is relatively subdued.

𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑     -     𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 ?

𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐀𝐈𝐑  𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌  𝐖𝐀𝐒  𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊,  𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆  ;  an  uncomfortable  stillness  rarely  present  in  the  city  of  wind  ;  the  kind  that  stuck  one’s  hair  to  the  back  of  their  neck.  For  the  freedom  the  city  possessed  the  Knight’s  headquarters  could  be  near  oppressive  ;  a  labyrinthian  decent  into  swords,  steels  and  spells,  a  constant  thrum  of  duty,  and  expectation  that  bound  its  denizens  to  craggy  halls  (  Mondstadt  changes  like  a  breeze,  she  remembered  explaining  so  long  ago  ━━━  the  irony  of  its  wreath  of  stone  not  lost  on  her  )  and  she  could  not  fault  the  aversions  of  others  to  cloak  themselves  in  that  responsibility.

No  more  so  than  the  traveller,  𝐒𝐔𝐍-𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃  𝐀𝐍𝐃  𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑-𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐃.  When  he  was  summoned  to  her  quarters  it  was  done  weighing  the  strength  of  his  freedom  and  the  call  of  the  wayfarer,  without  expectation  or  demands.  She  could  not  ask  of  him  more  than  he  had  already  given,  to  thrust  a  mantle  ill-conceived  or  irresponsible.  He  was  not  a  bird  of  clipped  wings  or  gilded  cage  ;  the  shrouded  obelisk  around  her  person  was  one  of  her  own  making.

𝐒𝐇𝐄  𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐎𝐌  𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐃  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐃𝐈𝐍,  less-so  since  her  ascension  to  grandmaster.  Perhaps  she  had  grown  used  to  it,  (  perhaps  she  had  no  choice  )  but  her  smile  was  sympathetic  and  her  tone  was  warm.

    𝑡ℎ𝑒  𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑎𝑦  𝑠𝑢𝑛  𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟  𝑜𝑛  ℎ𝑖𝑠  𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘  ,  well  loved  notebook  in  hand  .  corners  rounded  from  busy  hands  .  leather  damaged  and  torn  around  the  bridge  ,  the  faint  holes  of  a  sewn  on  button  -  long  lost  -  remain  .  gently  ,  hands  grasp  the  stem  of  a  native  plant  .  something  to  keep  from  each  place  visited  .  there  is  no  further  thought  in  them  ,  however  ,  there  is  sentiment  in  their  petals  .  then  ,  his  thought  of  a  keepsake  is  interrupted  by  a  noise  .  a  familiar  one  ,  the  weight  of  the  footsteps  ,  the  rustle  of  clothes  -  all  sounds  he  knows  who  to  pin  on

        “  oh no,  i’m so sorry for giving you such a sideways look.  i just thought that i,  well,  i’d seen you before a long while ago but it couldn’t be.  ”
