Golden Brown - Whisker Fatigue
It's another one of them Bandcamp Fridays โ and my buddy/bandmate Stefan Beck has just announced a new Golden Brown magnum opus on the estimable Eiderdown Records ... behold, Whisker Fatigue! It's a semi-family affair: Prairiewolf's Jeremy Erwin provided some keyboards and I wrote the liner notes. Did I reference both Lord of the Rings and The NeverEnding Story?! Did I compare the record to Miles Davisโ โHe Loved Him Madlyโ???? Did I use the word "chthonic"?!! Yes, yes and yes. Whisker Fatigue is a bit of a departure for Golden Brown, with darker, dubbier textures coming to the fore. But it's still very much in keeping with Stefan's overall vision. You're going to want to get the splatter vinyl edition for maximum headiness.
And speaking of headiness, Prairiewolf is taking part in a cool event tomorrow at Trident Booksellers in Boulder, CO. Twelve hours of ambient music! A whole bunch of Front Range faves are taking part in this daylong fest, from M. Sage to Snow/Sunswept to Jupiter Control Tower. We'll be doing something a little more improv-y than usual, attempting to conjure up the ghosts of such former Trident patrons as Allen Ginsberg, Harry Smith and Stan Brakhage. We start at 1pm, but you should probably get there at 7am for the full experience.
