Every struggle that an in-the-field wild dolphin study may throw at me - every equipment failure, every trip cut short by boat engine trouble or storms approaching, every long, arduous day spent baking in the oppressive sun in a small boat or kayak, every never-ending, tedious hour spent comparing photographs and analyzing data - it’s all worth it for the moments like these...the moments where time seems to slow to the pace of the setting sun, where the water is calm yet the dolphins are active, their smooth backs glistening with an orange sparkle of twilight as they surface. It is in these moments that I find myself overwhelmed at the beauty of God’s creation...it’s these moments that I remember forever...they can’t be forgotten.

Honestly this was one of the most spectacular scenes I’ve ever witnessed - a Bottlenose Dolphin displaying a sequence of breaches in the brackish Homosassa River. For over a year, throughout every day trip to Homosassa that I could manage to cram, I had my hopes set on capturing a set of photos like these...and now here they are!
