To be honest, Asher still felt numb. It had been a two days since Tristan found Henri dead in his cabin, allegedly murdered by Eris. After the high of coming back from his first quest and nailing it... well, surviving it, he felt the biggest low he’d felt since coming to camp. The low of losing one of the closest friends he had.
Pushing himself up from his bed, he took in a deep breath. Eyes cast to his right to see a disheveled red head passed out next to him. Ever since he heard about Henri’s death, Asher made Corey spend the next couple nights with him until further notice. Neither of them should be alone right now, especially Corey. There was a sense of security knowing his best friend was with him and not alone and vulnerable. If Henri could get be killed so suddenly, one of the strongest demigods Asher knew, then surely any of them could be. Truth be told he wasn’t sure he would be able to handle it if Corinth disappeared as well. Asher was a lot of things. Strong, cunning, creative, powerful, but even he knew he was dependent as fuck.
With a heavy yawn the son of Cronus scooted to the foot of his bed where Trinity lay fast asleep, all three heads curled into himself. Eyes fell on the silver hourglass necklace Henri had given him for Christmas, not even two weeks ago. A sharp pang hit his gut when he remembered spending the entirety of Christmas morning with the late son of Hera. It felt like a lifetime ago. He picked up the necklace and slid it around his neck. It was the only thing he had to remember him by now. Someone so strong, so powerful, so important, had been reduced to a simple necklace. It was wrong.
Idly Asher’s gaze moved to the window that overlooked the entire camp. There, he couldn’t help but notice movement down by the peacock cabin. Someone dark haired was moving things inside. “No fucking way,” he said to himself at first. “No fucking way.” Without thinking he reached behind him to grab at Corey’s thigh. “Get the fuck up, Red. Someone is moving into Henri’s cabin! Look!”
