We've already seen that he drinks quite a bit. We're literally introduced to him in Y destiny drunkenly stumbling into Sun. (Who then makes a derogatory comment about how he's probably on drugs, which I don't think they ever confirm nor deny)

Substance abuse is incredibly common in individuals with bpd.

Then it's canon that he has struggled with self injury before.

A lot of individuals with bpd feel detached from their inner selves. Or like they don't know who they really are internally. The dramatic and flamboyant way Nuea dresses reminds me a lot of my younger self, not knowing who I really was and just sort of using aesthetics as a distraction, because I genuinely didn't understand my own personality.

There are a few other things as well but what really sells it to me is the way Nuea both clings to Sun and pushes him away.

"frantic attempts to deter real or perceived abandonment" is a classic symptom. But also, what a lot of people suffering do, is that when they perceive abandonment they actively push people away in a self sabotaging attempt to take control over the situation. if they push someone else away before they leave, then that person can't actually leave. It's a false sense of control.

And one of the most common reasons for developing BPD is a lack of supportive emotional relationships in early development.

Like, I'm aware it's a controversial diagnosis (and boy howdy do i have beef with the misogyny and racism and ableism of the field of psychology) but I'm sure getting big "same hat" vibes from Nuea.

The thing is that Sun is also very clearly dealing with hefty self esteem issues and they both seem to be mentally ill in a way that sets the other off. Their own triggers and reactions to said triggers are triggering one another.

Nuea literally goes directly from this.

To the next scene where Sun is trying to act all cute

and all he gets back is this

Boy I want to shake you sometimes.

That boy is insatiable!

Because like, I signed up to this show wanting only to see maxnat smooches and I am being serviced on that front.

On the other front I am stuck watching these two spin their tires and get nowhere.

Like, obviously they both love each other a lot. But Nuea is saying that he loves Sun while still acting like the most important part of him is his dick. He lets his sister shun him from the event in the previous episode.

He's clearly insecure about himself but he takes that out on Sun.

Like, my guy. Sun would not be putting himself through this if he was sick of you. Clearly he is wrapped around your finger.

It's so frustrating because they keep having the same conversations over and over and yet not really understanding them.

Nuea is much younger and definitely acts like it. And he is spoiled and not used to communicating properly. Meanwhile Sun is like, several different insecurities and self loathing issues wrapped up in a big buff body and instead of allowing himself to be vulnerable he pushes it down and tries again and again to be enough for Nuea.
