Oh my god, I've been waiting for this ask, thank you thank you thank you.

So the main canon reason for the au is, Collin is technically supposed to be the main focus, and this au is supposed to be about grief and moving on and just trying to continue to live, and the main focus of his grief is his family.

Meg is the starting point of that grief, they are a big reason the rest of the family fell apart to their own grief.

Matthew went missing a few years later, right after he finished his schooling causing more grief.

His parents hadn't even fully processed their youngest child's death, and then their eldest son disappeared a few years after, they aren't going to be well after all of that, so they both focus on Collin in ways that should've been seen as love and protection but it just made Collin feel suffocated and trapped until he moved out.

Collin's name being the only one that is different is because he is trying to find a way to work with his grief, trying not to let it consume him, he just struggles sometimes, like any human would, and it doesn't help that before he moved out it was just a circle of grief in his house no matter what, so he has to start from scratch on his own after wallowing in it for years.

That is the lore and canon reason at least, the original reason is, when trying to figure out what Matthews name should be, Matthew was the only name I could think of, and I went with it, and at the time I had plans for Trans Masc Collin, so I made Collins dead name start with an M and thought it was a cool turning page for Collin, to move past grief he had to start by making a difference between him and his family.

So it wasn't planned at first, it's just something I personally stumbled across a couple days after I started this au.

Matthew would play piano 100% and he would want to play electric guitar but I don't think he'd be very good at it, plus his piano lessons and concerts would keep him too busy to learn electric guitar anyway

Collin would do percussion in school, so drums, xylophone, ECT, maybe even was a part of a garage band as the drummer

I'mma make them like... Disney princess with birds just you wait /silly

But the different birds that I think each sibling would like just off the top of my head not symbolism or research going into it at all/whatever there is what I remember from other bird progects.

Meg, finch birds, I really do like she'd like these tiny little birds that do little hops everywhere, and also the different breeds of pigeons, saying stuff how it isn't their fault and how they had purpose their jobs where just taken from them! She would honestly be the sibling that liked birds the most, going to like... bird shows and bird watching even having a bird watching check book, it'll never be finished sadly.

Collin, I don't imagine he'd be too fond of animals honestly, like obviously not cruel to them but also wouldn't try to take home every animal he sees, though I do imagine he has a soft spot for waterfowl, ducks, geese, swans, ect, if it is seen happily swimming in a pond or anything like it, he enjoys the company, also he's been training the Geese in his world to start attacking the admins when they come into his world uninvited so there certainly is some fun to it.

I grabbed small rocks like tiny ones, not that small and not that big. Went home, washed them, seasoned them, cooked them, and ate them.
