Hot music takes that I will never change my mind on
- A Ghost Is Born is better than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but not as good as Summerteeth - Turn On The Bright Lights is better than any album The Strokes have released - The album version of Let It Be is far superior to the single version - Phil Spector’s production on All Things Must Pass elevates it slightly above Ram as the best Beatles solo album - Imagine is barely an above average album - Mark Kozelek is simultaneously the best AND worst lyricist of the last 30 years - Sea Change and Ghosts of the Great Highway are the two best folk rock albums of the last 40 years - Coldplay’s first 3 albums are some of the best pop-rock ever released - The Wall isn’t a good album - Every single Beatles album is let down by at least one bad/average song EXCEPT for Abbey Road - Tigermilk is far superior to If You’re Feeling Sinister - Arcade Fire’s true artistic peak was The Suburbs, which remains a top 5 album all-time - For a period of about 6 years Grandaddy was one of the best 3 bands in the world - Jeff Lynne’s songwriting with Electric Light Orchestra from 1974-1981 is possibly the best album run of any musician or group ever, only rivalled by Elliott Smith (1997-2004), Radiohead (1995-2007), The Beatles (1965-1969), Wilco (1996-2004) and Sufjan Stevens (2003-2015).
