It’s no ordinary Friday night at The Rail. Pop the right balloon, win a prize. And did we mention it’s Christmas in July? Great Lakes Christmas Ale is flowing for $4 a pint until it’s gone or Santa shows up in his Speedo---whichever comes first.

It’s a BIG day for Akron.

The long-awaited, much anticipated arrival of J. Crew to the greater Akron area is finally here, and better yet, the little slice of preppy heaven has landed right in my backyard! For years, I have trekked up to Beachwood, the closest J. Crew, and it's a bit of a hike.  This ultimately meant a 40 minute gamble driving up 271, hoping that the sale racks would be full of cute clothes.  Sometimes, we’d hit the big time; others we would find nothingness amidst the stylish stock.  Alternatively, my lunchtime J Crew or J Crew Factory online shopping sprees could spur excitement - only to discover that sweater doesn’t look quite as good on me as it did the expertly styled model.

Although I’m not one to pass up a shopping trip and I do enjoy the occasional online shopping spree package outside my door, J Crew’s arrival to Summit Mall means much more instant gratification and consistent opportunities to prep away to my hearts content! And, most likely, a bit more of a dent in my wallet - but hey, somebody has to keep it classy in the Valley, right?

I have not yet made it in to witness the preppy mecca first-hand, but my source in the field (aka my style ‘twin’ and lovely younger sister, Laura) says that the store is “very nice, a bit small” with “no sale stuff yet”.
