Some girls are made of adventure, fine beer, brains, and no fear.” (Caroline McKean, Lifestyle Coach) 💪🏻 - In the summer of 2003, part Jewish, part Catholic, Cincinnati native, Jamie, would realize how despite the fact that she “totally, completely, and utterly f**ked up!” her summer break, it proved to be quite the rocky, learning experience. 😂👌🏻 Dealing with her incompetent parents, becoming sexually awakened, falling in-love for the 1st time, slowly but gradually maturing, and learning to sort her life out, all in the aftermath of her grandmother, Dotty, passing away. Yeah.....quite a summer Jamie has had in Becca Gleason’s Coming-Of-Age/Comedy-Drama, “Summer ‘03” (2018). 🤣🤘🏻 Not since Abdellatif Kechiche’s “La Vie d’Adèle - Chapitres 1 et 2” (The Life of Adèle - Chapters 1 & 2, also known internationally as Blue is the Warmest Color, 2013) and Kelly Fremon Craig’s “The Edge of Seventeen” (2016) has a Coming-Of-Age tale been so engaging, meaningful, and relatable as Becca Gleason’s #Summer03 which I GUARANTEE you will be among my favorites movies of last year, mark my words! 😄👊🏻 It’s a strange thing actually. Despite growing up from a young boy to becoming a grown man, I’ve always gravitated most towards young girls and their journeys to becoming grown women, more so than I ever did young boys becoming grown men.
